Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics: Largest show ever opens in Shanghai with fashion shows, design and trend events to entice new visitors

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics opens next week and will take place from 22 – 25 October 2012 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, in Pudong. A total of over 3,300 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions will display their latest products in a total of 13 halls, covering 150,000 sqm.

This year marks an 8.7% increase in the number of international exhibitors, and a 4.6% increase in the total number of exhibitors.

The international halls (W1 - W3) will feature:

  • Country / regional pavilions from Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Portugal, Taiwan China, Thailand, Turkey, and the UK
  • Debut of SalonEurope (Hall W1), with premium European suppliers, including the Milano Unica Pavilion
  • Special fiber group pavilion - including Cotton Council International, DuPont, Hyosung, INVISTA, the Korea Chemical Fibers Association, and Lenzing AG
  • Verve for Design (Textile Designer Zone) - offering innovative textile designs from Australia and Italy

In addition, halls W4 - W5 will feature over 540 accessories suppliers, both international and domestic.

In halls E1 - E5 and N1 - N3, domestic exhibitors are arranged by product end-use type, including:

  • suitings (E1 and E2) and shirtings (E2)
  • functional clothing and sportswear (E3)
  • casualwear and denim (E4 and E5)
  • ladieswear (N1-N3)
Fashion shows, design and trend events entice new visitors

Attendees can preview Autumn / Winter 2013 – 14 trends at the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum, found in Hall W1. This onsite display, by Kai Chow from Doneger Creative Services (USA), presents trend forecasts by the Directions trend committee. 

For gaining insight into trends in the domestic market, the Fabrics China Trend Forum will host displays at Hall E2 for suitings, Hall N3 for ladieswear and Hall E5 for Casual wear.

The first-ever Intertextile Catwalk Show will feature the famous Hong Kong fashion designer William Tang, as he makes use of exhibitors’ fabrics to design and produce a collection for a runway show to be held on 22 October 2012.

In conjunction with this fashion event, exhibitors, including Danmo, Huaqi, Lenzing, Luthai, Shishi Cloth Association, and Suzhou CINC, will also be showcasing design pieces using their own products.

The 2012 trade show will also see the introduction of the China International Fabrics Design Competition, which is held as a separate event to Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2012. The only design competition of its kind in China, it will be judged by a special committee of retailers, designers and global buyers, and the winners will be showcased at the Fabrics China Trend Forum. Categories include Best Technological Innovation, Best Fabric for Menswear, Best Fabric for Ladieswear and more.

Luxury Italian suppliers organise Milano Unica pavilion for Shanghai

As a continued effort by the show’s organisers to raise overseas exhibitor participation, the 2012 Shanghai show welcomes the Milano Unica pavilion. Organised by a group of some of Italy’s most well-known textile and accessory suppliers, the pavilion is home to 124 exhibitors, showcasing their latest offerings for Fall/Winter 2013/14.

Mr Silvio Albini, President of Milano Unica noted: “The Chinese market is a challenging venture for Italian suppliers, but the satisfying thing is that we have set aside our individualism and combined our forces to project a positive image, consistent with the level and excellence of made-in-Italy products.”

Seminars and other programmes share industry knowledge

This year’s show will feature a number of new programmes from 23 - 24 October 2012, such as Korea Day – The Forum of “Global-Korea Fashion Link, Shanghai” as organised by the Korea Trade Investment-Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and supported by Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics. Korean fabrics with a special focus on functional fabrics and business strategies for working with Korean suppliers will be showcased.

Also, Trend and Design seminars will include trend forecasts and design tips for Autumn / Winter 2013 – 14 by the experts at Doneger Creative Services, Huafu Top Dyed Melange Yarn Co Ltd, Peclers Paris and WGSN among others.

Certification and Testing seminars will be given on topics such as Oeko-Tex Standard, flammability, and standards compliance by Hohenstein Institute, TESTEX Swiss Textile Testing Ltd, TÜV SÜD, GOTS and others, while Huntsman Textile effects will present a Technology and Solutions seminar on Digital Printing. Textile Intelligence will present a seminar on Market Information. Many more speakers and topics will also be presented.

Dual record participation, sleep and sustainability in focus as Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles concludes for spring

Spring Edition 2026 concluded on 13 March at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), achieving record highs in both exhibitor and visitor numbers. Nearly 380 exhibitors from six countries and regions connected with more than 28,500 visitors (12% increase[1]) from 83 countries and regions. Design, innovation and sustainability propel VIATT 2026’s expanding role in ASEAN textile sourcing

At its third edition, the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles, and Textile Technologies (VIATT) further reinforced its role as a key sourcing and business platform for ASEAN’s textile industry.
