From advanced fibres to eco‑focused yarns: Yarn Expo Autumn 2026 set to welcome global industry to Shanghai

© 2026 Messe Frankfurt
From 25 – 27 August, Yarn Expo Autumn 2026 will return to the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) to reinforce its role as a key meeting point for the global yarn and fibre industry. With over 22,000 visitors, the previous edition gathered nearly 580 leading exhibitors from 16 countries and regions, showcasing advanced developments and creative applications that support innovative, sustainable textile design. The upcoming edition will not only present an extensive range of fibre and yarn products, but will also feature a comprehensive fringe programme, including industry forums and trend display areas, providing innovative upstream enterprises with a stage to introduce next‑generation materials and sustainable concepts.

Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, commented: “Yarn Expo Autumn remains a platform where the industry can access the latest yarn and fibre trends, technologies and sustainable solutions. By bringing together leading exhibitors, curated trend displays and in‑depth forums under one roof, the fair helps fairgoers navigate fast‑changing market demands and identify new growth opportunities. Held alongside Intertextile Apparel and two further complementary fairs, the upcoming edition will enable visitors to source across the textile value chain in one trip, while promoting leading exhibitors whose innovations are shaping the sector’s future.”

China accounts for a substantial share of global textile and clothing exports, with around 40 – 45% of worldwide textile exports[1] and roughly one third of global clothing exports linked to the country[2], as well as a vast domestic market. Supported by innovation at scale, a complete supply chain and efficient logistics, China remains a key launchpad for new products. Yarn Expo Autumn is a key meeting point for innovation exchange and textile trade on a global scale, bringing together suppliers and buyers from across Asia and beyond; with key elements at the previous edition including dedicated pavilions and zones for India, Pakistan and Taiwan, and cutting-edge products such as Polylana® fibre from The Movement B.V. (Netherlands), a lower‑impact synthetic wool alternative.

Building on this international mix, the upcoming edition will feature specialised zones that highlight key directions in yarn and fibre development, for cashmere, chemical fibres, cotton, fancy yarns, green linen yarn, silk yarn and quality wool yarns. The International Zone will bring together leading suppliers such as Cotton Council International (USA), PT. Indo‑Rama Synthetics Tbk (Indonesia) and Toray Industries Inc (Japan), offering buyers firsthand access to premium solutions from around the world.

“Yarn Expo Autumn is an exceptional platform for connecting with international buyers and engaging with existing customers,” said Mr Muhammad Mubeen, Director of Abtex International (Pvt) Ltd (Pakistan), exhibiting at the previous edition. “Many of our target buyers attend, making it a prime opportunity for networking and one of the best venues to explore yarn sales opportunities. Exhibiting allows us to gain valuable insights into market trends, helping us identify in-demand products and unique offerings, which enables us to tailor our efforts effectively and introduce new products to the market.”

Building on this positive feedback, first‑time exhibitors last autumn also underlined the fair’s value for accessing new markets and partners across the supply chain. “This is our first Yarn Expo Autumn, which we joined to engage with new audiences after eight years in the Chinese market,” said Mr Jimad Khan, International Sales & Marketing Manager of Perino by Woolyarns (New Zealand). “The experience has been positive, with strong interest, enquiries and sample requests. We focus on natural fibres, with demand increasing due to European traceability legislation and China’s emphasis on quality. The fair is important for connecting with the entire supply chain, from fibre suppliers to weavers and fabric producers.”

Feedback – and the products on show – from other exhibitors at that edition also mirrored wider developments in the international yarn and fibre sector, where buyers are paying closer attention to product quality, traceability and environmental performance. Industry studies point to steady growth in yarn demand, and in organic, recycled and other lower‑impact materials, with Asia continuing to play a central role in sourcing and production[3]. In this context, Yarn Expo Autumn 2026 will offer the market a timely meeting point to source new‑generation yarns and fibres, explore evolving requirements on sustainability and quality, and build partnerships that support the sector’s next stage of development around the China market.

Yarn Expo Autumn will be held concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, CHIC, and PH Value. The four fairs will bring the fibre and yarn, apparel fabrics and accessories, fashion, and knitted garments industries together under one roof, with the resultant synergy allowing exhibitors and buyers to maximise their business opportunities.

Yarn Expo Autumn is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT. For further information, please visit: www.yarn-expo-autumn.com.

The upcoming edition of Yarn Expo Autumn will be held from 25 – 27 August 2026.
