New spinning package with two-step filtration for recycled yarns and more

Value Paket RD88_120° © 2026 BB Engineering
At the ITM in Istanbul, BB Engineering unveiled its new, patented ValuePack spinning package for the first time, which features a two-stage filtration system. This is particularly beneficial for re-cycling processes. Until now, spinning packs have used either metal powder (“sand”) or filter candles as filter media. Both options are suitable for differ-ent applications, and each has its own specific advantages and dis-advantages.

Sand packs are characterized above all by high melt homogeneity and are therefore particularly suitable for virgin mate-rial. Packages with filter candles, on the other hand, offer a larger filter area and were originally developed specifically for recycling applications. The increased filter area improves filtration perfor-mance and extends service life but is also associated with a lower flux rate and shear, which can have a negative effect on homogeneity.

In the new ValuePack spinning package, BB Engineering combines both approaches — metal sand and filter cartridges — in a two-step filtration process. The melt first flows through the filter cartridge, where it is efficiently filtered down to 15 μm across a large filter surface area. It then passes through the sand chamber, where ho-mogenization and shearing in particular take place. The concept is as simple as it is innovative and offers clear advantages. It results in significantly improved homogeneity in terms of temperature and viscosity, better spinning performance, and higher yarn quality. This added value is particularly evident in recycling processes, where it enables the production of higher-quality products. Furthermore, the ValuePack’s two-stage filtration can also offer advantages in other demanding or quality-critical applications.

Another advantage of the ValuePack is its pressure-independent seal. This helps prevent leaks, which can occur with self-sealing packages. At the same time, this allows for a wider process window. Existing systems can be easily retrofitted to accommo-date the ValuePack, which is slightly longer due to its design.

With its multi-stage filtration in the spinning package, BB Engineer-ing plays a pioneering role and, underscores its expertise in the field of synthetic fiber spinning and recycling. At the ITM trade show, vis-itors were able to experience how the ValuePack works through an impressive VR animation.

Development of bio-based polyethylene fibers for textile applications – BB Engineering partici-pates in the bioPEtex research project

In the German research project bioPEtex, BB Engineering (BBE) is working with other partners to develop textiles made from 100% bio-based polyethylene (PE). The aim is to make use of this poly-mer, which has hardly been used in the chemical fiber industry to date. BBE is contributing its spinning and texturizing expertise and developing the texturing process on an industrial scale. The first promising results are already available – opening up new opportu-nities for sustainable and economically attractive applications in the textile industry.

Rieter and partners launch Recycling Powerhouse for industrial-scale textile recycling

Recycling Powerhouse Ltd. was established in July 2026 to industrialize, standardize and scale textile recycling. Based in Switzerland, the venture will operate a franchise-driven business model that enables the production of high-quality, certified recycled yarns. The project is supported by the following partners: Rieter Group, the world’s leading system supplier for natural and man-made fibers, Säntis Textiles, a Swiss textile engineering company, and Valvan, a Belgian sorting technology company. The first blueprint franchise operation is scheduled to launch early 2027 in partnership with Suhail Industrial Holding Group in Qatar.

Rieter sees Barmag integration on track as orders and sales rise

The first half of 2026 was shaped by the successful completion of the largest acquisition in Rieter’s history. The Man-Made Fiber Division enables entry into the growth segment of man-made fibers and sustainably strengthens Rieter’s market position in the Asia region. The expanded Group is now the world’s leading system supplier for the processing of natural and man-made fibers. In the first half of the year, initial cost savings in material costs and operating expenses have already been realized. The targeted synergies are expected to amount to at least CHF 20 million by the end of the 2028 financial year. Due to the completion of the acquisition on February 2, 2026, the first half of the year for the Man-Made Fiber Division only amounts to five months.
