Open Day on 21 May: Bremen Cotton Exchange opens its doors

On the occasion of its 150th anniversary and the publication of the anniversary book, the Bremen Cotton Exchange is inviting to an open day on Saturday, 21 May 2022 from 11 am to 4 pm.

Open day: readings, guided tours, information

Bremen actor, producer and author Dirk Böhling will be on site for three readings. Accompanied by music, he will read from historical documents that shed light on the past of the Bremen Cotton Exchange.

Readings in the large conference room (406):

• 11.15 am

• 12.00 pm

• 12.45 pm

Two guided tours at 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm will introduce visitors to the highlights of the historic building from 1902. Furthermore, visitors can find out all about cotton and its supply chain and explore the building on a tour.

The anniversary book: time travel through 150 years of the Cotton Exchange

On almost 130 pages, the book invites the reader to take a 150-year journey through the eventful history of the Bremen Cotton Exchange.

It describes the founding and heyday years, the challenges posed by economic crises and wars, with destruction and reconstruction, and the structural changes of recent decades with the globalisation of worldwide supply chains. At the same time, it addresses the challenges of the future. Climate change, the need to act sustainably and the processes of digitalisation will lead to new tasks in the future.

In this respect, the book is both a chronicle and a master plan.
