As a subsidiary of Sabanci Holding, in collaboration with Composites United (CU), Kordsa hosted the CU Innovation Day at the Sabanci Technology Center in Munich.

The CU Innovation Day, a prestigious event in the industry centered around "Sustainable Composites", brought together leading companies, stakeholders, and thought leaders from the composite sector and as a platform for sharing innovative solutions and discussing future trends.

Global Leaders in the composite industry convene at Sabanci Technology Center 

During the event, Kordsa highlighted its commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility, fostering dialogue and collaboration around sustainable solutions in the composite industry. 

Over the course of the two-day event, which positioned the Sabanci Technology Center as a key international hub, discussions centered on sustainable composite solutions, with presentations on composite products used in aviation, automotive, and construction sectors.

Kordsa’s presentations about its sustainable solutions such as bio-based products, sustainable construction solutions, Carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) for Hydrogen applications, and ceramic matrix composites (CMC) for sustainable applications, underscored the company’s dedication to sustainability. 

Kordsa paving the way for the future with sustainable composite solutions

In his opening remarks, Burak Orhun, Sabanci Holding’s Group President of Material Technologies, commented on the significance of hosting one of the most prestigious events in the composite industry. Orhun stated that the comprehensive transformation processes occurring globally have made a sustainability-focused transition in materials essential, saying, "The shift from conventional materials to sustainable ones has now become a necessity for all sectors. Especially for the energy and mobility transitions to provide lasting benefits, we need to develop and provide the sustainable materials that are at the center of this transformation available to the industry. The Sabanci Technology Center is strategically located in the Technical University of Munich, enabling us to bring our R&D, technology, and sustainable product development capabilities on the international stage. We are developing solutions that address our customers' needs and making them available for use through centers like the one hosting us today.”

Kordsa CEO Ibrahim Özgür Yildirim added: "Hosting CU Innovation Day allowed Kordsa to highlight its pioneering role in the composite sector and its commitment to sustainability on a global stage. As Kordsa, we aim to accelerate open innovation collaborations by discussing the sustainable solutions that composites offer to the aviation, automotive, and construction industries with our stakeholders in the composite industry. We will continue to engage with Composites United and the companies within this network to shape the future of composite materials”.
