WHILL selects Teijin’s tough, lightweight Carbon Fiber Composite for new last-mile mobility
Teijin’s Sereebo® P CFP series offers high flow during molding for producing thin and complex shapes, including the foot support, back support, armrests and battery case of the Model C Lite. Compared to traditional aluminum and magnesium, injection-molded Sereebo® P CFP series reduces weight and manufacturing costs and complexity.
Sereebo® series, which is derived from "Save the Earth, Revolutionary & Evolutionary Carbon," features light weight and durability. Sereebo® P CFP series is made from PIR(post-industrial recycle) carbon fiber, which is uniformly dispersed in a polyamide resin.
Sereebo® P CFP series is available as a pellet and can be injection molded with standard machines. Because WHILL creates sophisticated, user-friendly designs that blend naturally into everyday life without appearing bulky or intimidating, injection molding was the most suitable method to achieve a high level of design flexibility.
Based on its customer-centric business model, Teijin will continue to supply composite materials, including Sereebo® series, to the mobility sector. At the same time, the Company is working on applications in a wide range of other industries that require light weight, strength and design innovation, such as drone and robotic parts, as well as other electrical and electronic components and equipment.
