Interstoff Asia Essential Spring edition remains the leading fair in Asia for cutting-edge apparel fabrics and accessories. Confirmed for 13 – 15 March, the 2013 show takes place at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Visitors can look forward to special themed areas, including an Accessories Zone, a Printed Fabrics Zone and the Designers’ Studio, as well as country and region pavilions with suppliers from China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Trend display areas, seminars, fashion shows and more will also be on offer.

The latest trends for Spring / Summer 2014 from the Directions Trend Committee

Interstoff Asia Essential is renowned for providing visitors with the latest fashion industry information. The “From Fashion to Eco” and “From Function to Fashion” Display Forums will showcase fashion trends, functional fabrics and the latest eco textiles. A range of Design and Trend seminars will focus on fabric texture, pattern and colour trends for clothing and fashion accessories for the upcoming season. Ms Sachiko Inoue of Japan, a member of the show’s Directions Trend Committee, is one of the speakers at these events. This year she is responsible for the design of the Trend Forum where the trend themes will be presented.

Composed of top fashion forecasters from New York, Tokyo, Paris and Milan, the Directions Trend Committee has anticipated the trends for Spring / Summer 2014.

The overview of this year’s trends is encapsulated by the phrase “strive for self-improvement and exploration,” and includes the following themes:

Serene Spirit
This theme involves fabrics that are multi-functional, practical, comfortable and safe. Natural fabrics such as wool, cotton, silk, linen, cupro and tencel are important. Crinkled finishing and a chiné texture, combined with knits, raschel lace and dobby, offer a serene look. Blue Mood
Natural fabrics are in demand, including cotton, linen, ramie, hemp and paper yarn. So are materials that are waterproof, durable, light and functional, such as synthetic fibres like polyester, polyurethane and nylon, while compound materials provide for a custom touch.

Sweet Rebel
Contradictory elements summarise this theme. Crafted jacquard, elaborate lace, embossed finishing, and trimmings such as frills and ribbons should be used, alongside fantasy-inspired fabrics and patterns. Sweet pastels and edgy colours further reinforce this idea.

Expressive Soul
Multicultural energy is the idea behind this theme. Futuristic-functional fabrics play an important role, including synthetics and knits. Ethnically inspired stripes and checks give a bold, intense look, while slub yarn, translucency and embroidery are key ideas.

Interstoff Asia Essential Autumn show dates rescheduled for September 2013

This year’s dates have been changed to 25 – 27 September 2013 to fit with the changing sourcing times in Hong Kong. The venue does not change: the fair will be held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
