UNERRING AND PRECISE

Laser technology in Autocoro Spinning

Laser technology is used above all where exceptionally high precision is required. That is exactly the case with yarn piecing on the Autocoro automatic rotor spinning machine. For over two years now, the laser technology has been used successfully in the Autocoro.

The quality of the yarn piecings and the reliability of piecing depend essentially on the acceleration to the normal rotor speed. The acceleration speed is measured with the help of a laser light barrier. The light source is a diode laser which emits a thin light beam. In the Twin-Disk cups are slots which interrupt the reflection of the light beam.

The laser light barrier is an essential part of the intelligent machine control system of the Autocoro 312, the Event Identification System EIS. EIS realises the communication between the basic machine and the Coromat package doffing and yarn piecing unit.

The laser light barrier ensures high functional reliability. It is insensitive to contamination. Much like X-rays, the laser light goes through the slots in the Twin-Disc cups and discovers deposits and contamination in the slots. Earlier systems were not able to achieve the high level of functional reliability now ensured with the new design. With conventional systems, cleaning of the reflectors is one of the onerous routine tasks of the maintenance personnel. Dirt deposits in the Twin-Disk cup slots discovered with the laser light beam do not influence the result of acceleration measuring, one of the advantages of this being that there is no more need for time-consuming cleaning of the Twin-Disk cups.
Homogenous yarns thanks to Quality Assurance

The rotor acceleration speed influences not only the sequences in the entire piecing cycle but also the reliability of the process. The laser light barrier assists in the exact timing of all piecing cycle sequences, from breaking of the rotor to transfer of the yarn to the winding unit.

This enhances the reliability of piecing as well as the productivity of the machine. Moreover, it ensures better reproducibility of the yarn piecings, as regards both appearance and quality. Thus, the laser light barrier makes a significant contribution to Quality Assurance in Autocoro spinning mills world-wide.

All machines of our new Autocoro 312 series come equipped with the light barrier system. Already, almost 600 machines of the new Autocoro generation using this laser technology are spinning yarn in textile mills all over the world. The laser technology can also be retrofitted to Autocoro machines in the field equipped with spinbox types SE 8 to Corobox SE 11. More than 2.500 such conversions have already been made, most of them in American and European spinning mills.
