ITMA ASIA ANNOUNCES THAT SPACE LEFT FOR APPLICATION IS RUNNING OUT

With less than 8 % of floor space remaining on the plan, the organiser is expecting to close the application

for exhibition space ahead of schedule. With leading exhibitors coming from the major textile machinery producing regios in Europe, America, Asia, including Japan (now leading as the 9th largest participating country), ITMA Asia 2001 is set to stake a leading position as Asia's premier event in textile machinery."The 92 % of exhibition space already sold is the best vote of confidence from the industry we have received so far. This figure is not an intention to participate but a confirmation of participatio. The exhibitors are giving us clear signal that having the maiden Asian event in SINGAPORE is a right decision. Hesitating companies should sign up immediately to avoid disappointment," said Mr. Bernard Terrat, President od CEMATEX. He adds affirmatively, "Now, we must deliver the other component of a successful exhibition, the buyers."ITMA ASIA AND OTEMAS - LATEST UPDATESWhile it is acknowledged that OTEMAS and ITMA Asia serve different sectors, there is still intense competition between both organisers to secure enough exhibitors quickly to strengthen their respective campaigns. The Japanese have always claimed an overwhelming success in the acquisition of exhibitors for OTEMAS 2001. The report that they have released at a press conference in CITME 2000 (China) revealed a list of exhibitors that totaled only 250 companies with less than 30 % being non-Japanese. In contrast, ITMA Asia announced at the recently concluded ATME-I 2000 that i has 505 exhibitors coming from 29 countriesITMA ASIA'S POTENTIALWith the Asian buyers constituting 37 % of the world's market-share, the region is an important market for the textile machinery exporters. Singapore, a renowned international exhibition city, has a friendly immigration policy, sound infrastructure and mature hospitality structure to support a mega-event like ITMA Asia."With ITMA in Europe firmly entrenched as the Olympics of textile machinery exhibitions, we have taken the first step to establish an Asian presence through ITMA Asia which will become a consolidated quadrennial platform for all our members end friends worldwide. Essentially, we will have these two events alternating on a biennial cycle to ensure ITMA remains relevant and current to the textile industry," said Mr. Bernard Terrat.ITMA Asia 2001 is indeed an opportunity for the world leaders of the textile machinery industry to meet the potential buyers, especially from Asia, in a singular venue and to maximise their exposure through this unique platform. The five-day trade exhibition, from 15 to 19 October 2001, held in the state-of-the-art exhibition centre, Singapore Expo, will see the best of textile machinery and related products and services presented by major producers from all over the world.----------CEMATEXc/o UCMTF92038 Paris La Defense Cedex / FranceTel.: +33 1 47176345Fax: +33 1 47176348MP International Pte Ltd20 Kallang Avenue, 2nd Level, Pico Creative CentreSingapore 339411Tel.: (65) 297 2822Fax: (65) 296 2670E-mail: sylviaphua@mpgroupasia.com and the buyers, especially those from Asia," sai Mr. Yew Sung Pei, Director of Exhibition and Marketing Business, Singapore Trade Development Board.
