Textile Exchange reports progress and transformation in 2024 Annual Report

Textile Exchange’s 2024 Annual Report highlights a year of intensified focus and strategic alignment toward its 2030 climate and material goals. The organization reports significant milestones in standards development, traceability, impact measurement, and industry engagement, positioning 2024 as a pivotal year in its systems-level transformation.


Certification under Textile Exchange’s existing material sustainability standards reached a new high, with 90,000 sites worldwide now certified. Progress toward the transition to the Materials Matter Standard included pilot audits and workshops across key production regions, alongside the expansion of the Trackit program to enhance traceability. Updates to accreditation and certification procedures are also underway to support this systemic shift.

In impact measurement, the Materials Benchmark saw record participation with 418 companies, while seven new Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and the launch of a Life Cycle Inventory Library strengthened data-driven decision-making. Two key publications—The Future of Synthetics and Reimagining Growth Landscape Analysis—addressed structural challenges facing the textile industry.

Textile Exchange also expanded its policy engagement, publishing a dedicated policy manifesto and contributing to the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation regarding textile-specific product requirements.

The 2024 Textile Exchange Conference welcomed over 1,800 participants, reflecting stronger engagement from upstream stakeholders, including Tier 4 raw material producers. The organization also strengthened its presence at external platforms such as New York Climate Week and hosted targeted regional events to advance peer learning and practical alignment among supply chain actors.

Through these integrated efforts, Textile Exchange continues to shape a global movement toward circular, climate-positive textile systems.
