Grasim Industries Ltd’s Nagda SFD plant awarded Economic Times Promising Plants 2021

Grasim Industries Ltd. the flagship company of the US$46-billion Aditya Birla Group, has been awarded “The Economic Times Promising Plants 2021’ in India for its Nagda SFD plant.

The Economic Times Promising Plants 2021 is an ET Edge initiative put together with The Machinist magazine and the ET Polymers Magazine to recognize, highlight and felicitate plants/factories which have not only scaled excellence but are serving as a source of inspiration to its peers and other industries in the country; and most of all, working towards the vision of ‘Make in India.’

The editorial team considered the plant’s firm commitment towards environmental and social issues in the community in and around the plant along with excellence in water management, a pledge toward zero-liquid discharge, commitment towards sustainability and towards the socio-economic development of Nagda through the building of hospitals/schools and other developmental infrastructure.



On receiving the award, in a virtual ceremony held on 30 July 2021, Mr. Dilip Gaur, Managing Director, Grasim Industries Ltd. dedicated the award to all employees and stakeholders of the Nagda SFD plant. Mr. Gaur said, “The award is a recognition for our dedication to sustainability, excellence in water management, our pledge to zero-liquid discharge, and, most importantly, our commitment to the socio-economic development of Nagda through improved healthcare, education, and infrastructure development for a better quality of life for all.”

Incorporated 10 days after Indian independence, Grasim Industries Ltd. has been one of the pioneers of ‘Make in India’ success stories.

Circ® and Huafon, a leading spandex producer in China, are partnering to build and scale a new multi-phase textile-to-textile recycling site in China, expanding Circ's global pathway to industrial scale. The project will be located within Huafon's industrial footprint and will use Circ's technology to process polycotton textile waste and recycle both inputs, recovering recycled PTA, recycled MEG and recycled cellulosic pulp for use in new textiles. The site will be developed in phases, with Phase 1 designed for approximately 200 metric tons of textile waste per day and additional capacity planned.
