FibreCoat cleans up prizes

FibreCoat GmbH produces inexpensive high performance composite fibres using a highly productive patented spinning technology. These are glass fibres with a polymer sheath or basalt fibres with an aluminium sheath.

FiberCoat GmbH is able to coat the individual filaments directly in the manufacturing process using a coating technology developed at the RWTH Aachen University, achieving a production speed of over 1,500 m/min and a completely homogeneous sheathing. With ALUCOAT, FibreCoat has launched its first product on the market this month. These fibres are significantly cheaper than comparable conductive fibres, which are currently in great demand for applications in e-mobility or electromagnetic shielding.

For this development FibreCoat was awarded the following current prizes:

• 27 November 2020: Winner of the Spin-off Award of RWTH Aachen University

• 10 November 2020: Second prize at “AC2 ­– Der Gründungswettbewerb” (AC2 – Start-up Competition, only available in German)

• 6 November 2020: Finalist at "Falling Walls - Venture Winner“

• 30 October 2020: Second place in ATEC X’s pitch battle

• 11 May 2020: Three ITA scientist win 24th NUK business plan competition

• 26 March 2019: ITA researchers win second prize of the "International Theophile Legrand Textile Innovaton Award 2019 "

As part of her summer tour, North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Mona Neubaur, visited Textilfabrik 7.0 in Mönchengladbach to experience the project’s innovations first-hand. 25 years of medical devices: ITVP combines experience with innovation

ITV Denkendorf Produktservice GmbH (ITVP) is celebrating its 25th anniversary. On October 1, 2001, ITVP was founded as a subsidiary of the German Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF), Europe’s largest textile research center. An eco-friendly alternative to fluorocarbon treatments

Protective and outdoor clothing derives its durable water-, dirt- and oil- repellent properties from the application of fluorinated polymers or per- and polyfluorinated low-molecular- weight chemicals (PFCs). The beneficial properties thus achieved on textiles are offset by environmental and human health risks. For manufacturers of sports, medical, protective and automotive textiles, researchers at the Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. and the Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research have developed liquid-applied dispersions and solutions to functionalise textiles without the use of fluorine.
