Visit of Korean business delegation in KICOX program at ITA

On 24 June 2019 the ITA hosted a delegation of Korean company representatives as part of a visit to the federal state of NRW organized by NRW Invest. First, the business location NRW in the middle of Europe was presented. The RWTH has a special significance here as a university of excellence as a research and development forge of the federal state. The close cooperation with companies from all over the world distinguishes the university in particular.

The aim of the visit was to present the ITA as one of the leading institutes of the RWTH to the Korean company representatives and to initiate cooperation’s. The ITA can look back on a successful history of research and development projects with Korean companies and research institutions. The expansion of this relationship is very fruitful for both sides. In particular, the topics of lightweight construction, recycling, Smart Textiles and medical technology met with great interest among visitors from Korea.



"Complex sensor technology for monitoring vital functions is developed in my company, but your technology for integration into textiles would offer my customers a comfort advantage.",one visitor noticed during the tour through the ITA lab and machine park. In this sense, the exchange between the ITA and Korea will be intensified in the future and the joint work with NRW Invest will be continued.

TERNAfil wins first place at PitchMiUp Night 2026 in Minden

The RWTH spin-off TERNAfil has developed MAXCarbon, a new high-performance hybrid fibre that combines the mechanical performance of carbon with the temperature and corrosion resistance of ceramic materials. For this development, TERNAfil was awarded first prize at the PitchMiUp Night in Minden on 21 May 2026.

Carbon-ceramic hybrid fibre proves its worth – NRW Minister for Science Mona Neubaur congratulates ITA start-up TERNAfil

MAXCarbon technology, a novel carbon-ceramic hybrid fibre developed by ITA spin-off TERNAfil, secured third place at the HIGH-TECH.NRW Demo Day on the TÜV NORD campus in Essen. The technology combines the strength of carbon fibres with the temperature and corrosion resistance of ceramic materials. Mona Neubaur, Minister for Science in North Rhine-Westphalia, congratulated the team on their success and on winning prize money of 4,000 euros.

Aid by Trade Foundation presents annual report for 2025: Market position and impact of sustainably verified natural fibres strengthened

Despite global supply chain challenges, the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) was able to further expand its international role in promoting sustainably verified natural fibres in 2025. In doing so, the foundation remains true to its fundamental approach of leveraging market forces. Last year, it generated total revenues of EUR 7.8 million; this included EUR 6.7 million collected through the successful marketing of four standards: Cotton made in Africa (CmiA), CmiA Organic, The Good Cashmere Standard (GCS), and the Regenerative Cotton Standard (RCS). AbTF invested the resulting income in projects aiming to protect biodiversity, support women, increase transparency in the textile supply chain, and implement its verification system.
