ZheJiangTex returns in May 2019

Since the global economy has inevitably been affected by the US-China trade war, there is an increased demand for textile and apparel machinery in a number of Southeast Asian countries, including India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia and Pakistan, etc. At the same time, the declining competitiveness of traditional products is widely recognized by the global textile industry, more intelligent equipment and machinery is needed to further expedite the digital transformation of manufacturing, thereby enhance productivity and improve product quality.

Yiwu, surrounded by many textile manufacturer clusters, is a major city for clothing manufacturing in East China’s Zhejiang Province. From 2017 to 2020, the Chinese Government invests approximately RMB 30 million of special funds to facilitate the development of Zhejiang’s industry. Since Yiwu is world famous for its big production of hosiery, knitwear, seamless clothing and textile, attracting numerous of manufacturers in the countries and regions along the Belt and Road to purchase machines and equipment from there. There are around 500,000 foreign merchants source in Yiwu every year.

The upcoming 20th anniversary of ZheJiang International Trade Fair For Textile and Garment Industry (ZhejiangTex 2019) will reach a new height with the support of Zhejiang Province Economic and Information Committee and Yiwu Municipal Government. ZhejiangTex 2019 is committed to providing tremendous business opportunities and fostering new ideas to drive digital transformation for the textile industry. Under the theme of “Smart Textile and Garment Technology - Smart Life Style”, ZhejiangTex 2019 will be grandly held on 16-18 May 2019 at Yiwu International Expo Centre in Zhejiang. Yarn Expo Spring 2026 concludes, connecting buyers with innovative selection of sustainable yarns and fibres

Yarn Expo Spring 2026 wrapped up successfully on 13 March, as a record-high of over 600 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions welcomed more than 25,000 visitors from 113 countries and regions. Held across 27,000 sqm in Hall 8.2 of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the fair highlighted the textile industry’s accelerating shift toward a lower-impact, more functional future. Exhibitors presented eco-friendly organic, regenerated and recycled yarns and fibres, alongside innovative options such as sweat-resistant and high-performance materials. A comprehensive fringe programme further enriched the event, offering practical market insights and new networking opportunities.

Design, innovation and sustainability propel VIATT 2026’s expanding role in ASEAN textile sourcing

At its third edition, the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles, and Textile Technologies (VIATT) further reinforced its role as a key sourcing and business platform for ASEAN’s textile industry. The three-day fair welcomed over 17,000 visits from 54 countries and regions, and featured over 460 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions across 18,000 sqm. The 2026 edition was marked by the introduction of new international pavilions and zones, broadening the fair’s sourcing scope across new geographies and product categories. The fringe programme, headlined by the debut Trend Forum, further distinguished VIATT as the region’s most integrated textile trade platform – uniquely spanning the entire value chain.

Connecting the ASEAN textile sector: sustainability, trends, and technology take centre stage at this week’s VIATT 2026

Opening this week Thursday, the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles, and Textile Technologies (VIATT) is set to welcome visitors from ASEAN’s dynamic textile market and beyond. From 26 to 28 February, VIATT 2026 – the fair’s third editions – will reinforce its strategic proposition with an integrated showcase of the three core sectors of the entire textile value chain. Beyond new sourcing opportunities in Apparel Fabrics & Fashion, Home & Contract Textiles, and Technical Textiles & Technologies, the fair will present an expanded fringe programme.

New study shows low environmental impact by Cotton made in Africa Organic Cotton from Tanzania

Today, the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) is announcing the results of a comprehensive life-cycle analysis (LCA) for cotton produced in Tanzania under the Cotton made in Africa Organic (CmiA Organic) standard. The study emphasises the small ecological footprint of CmiA Organic verified cotton. This can largely be traced back to the absence of synthetic pesticides, artificial fertilisers, and artificial irrigation. Consequently, CmiA Organic cotton can help the textile industry meet regulatory requirements as well as science-based targets. The results also show that the consequences of climate change threaten the livelihoods of these cotton farmers, even though the type of agriculture they practise barely contributes to climate change.

PERFORMANCE DAYS proves its relevance as the industry’s key meeting point

Held on March 18–19, 2026, PERFORMANCE DAYS once again confirmed its position as a leading international platform for functional textiles. A total of 3.366 trade visitors and around 560 exhibitors gathered in Munich, with the event already kicking off successfully on DAY 0, which received highly positive feedback for its interactive format. Despite challenging conditions caused by the public transport strike in Munich, the event saw strong attendance and a consistently high level of activity across both exhibition days.
