Scholl Switzerland AG and Then GmbH agree on merger

The new company Scholl-Then AG becomes one of the largest suppliers for piece dyeing and yarn dyeing equipment as well as chemical dispensing and dye dissolving systems. With the piece dyeing machines AIRFLOW and RAPIDSTAR, the company is offering worldwide leading products in the area of piece dyeing.
SCHOLL SWITZERLAND AG AND THEN GMBH AGREE ON MERGER AND BECOME A WORLDWIDE TECHNOLOGY LEADER WITH A COMPLETE LINE OF HIGH END PRODUCTS AND SERVICES FOR DYEING SYSTEMS TO THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY.

In addition, the broad line of yarn dyeing equipment is one of the most recognized technologies worldwide. Furthermore, the company offers leading technology in dye house control systems and central process control host systems.


Scholl Switzerland AG and Then GmbH announced their agreement for merger on November 6, 2002. The new company now has a leading position worldwide as a producer of discontinuous wet processing equipment for the textile industry. Scholl-Then AG will be among the largest suppliers of piece dyeing, beam dyeing, yarn dyeing, chemical dispensing, dye dissolving, control- and host control systems. Both Scholl and Then are renowned for their leadership positions in dye house technology. Their well known product brands AIRFLOW and RAPIDSTAR and their know how in control software and dye house management software have given the companies leading positions in the industry.

Erich Scholl, previously Chairman of Scholl Switzerland AG will become Chairman of SCHOLL - THEN AG. Dr. Carl Cordes previously Chairman and CEO of Then GmbH will become CEO of SCHOLL - THEN AG.

Werner Hübsch as president and COO will head the new management team of SCHOLL - THEN AG that includes Thomas Gerhard as a President & CEO (sales and marketing), Beat Geissbuehler CFO and Thomas Widmer (engineering).

The Scholl Group was founded in 1937 and is specialized in the manufacturing of dye machinery and assorted equipment for the textile industry. The company was founded in 1919 in Chemnitz/ Saxony and developed soon to a leading manufacturer of discontinuous wet processing equipment for the textile industry. The company moved to Schwaebisch Hall/ Baden- Württemberg in 1950.Then has about 250 employees. The company is represented in 80 countries of the world. The production program includes discontinuous wet processing machinery for piece and yarn dyeing as well as fully automated process control and monitoring systems.
