Tenax® Carbon Fiber reinforced thermoplastics qualified by Collins Aerospace

Teijin Limited announced today that it has qualified its carbon fiber based materials Tenax® ThermoPlastic Woven Fabric (TPWF) and Tenax® ThermoPlastic Consolidated Laminate (TPCL) by Collins Aerospace, a unit of Raytheon Technologies Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of aircraft structural components.

Tenax® TPWF is a woven carbon fiber fabric coated with a thermoplastic polymer and Tenax® TPCL are completely impregnated and consolidated sheets made of several layers of Tenax® TPWF.

The qualified product is based on woven high strength carbon fiber and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) polymer, which achieves high heat, impact and fatigue resistance, helps to reduce production costs and improve component manufacturing efficiency thanks to the potential of a rapid molding process. This material is suited for large-scale production of parts combined with high mechanical performance, such as structural components for aerospace.

Teijin has an existing strong business relationship with Collins Aerospace. As a proof, a facility of Teijin Carbon America, Inc., the company’s core carbon fiber business in the U.S., was awarded Supplier Gold as the only fiber manufacturer worldwide for the supply of an oxidized PAN fiber (OPF) Pyromex® for aircraft brake-friction materials.

As one strategic focus of its medium-term management plan for 2020-2022. Teijin is intensively accelerating its development of mid- to downstream applications for aircraft, such as cost-effective carbon fibers with higher-tenacity and higher-tensile modulus, intermediate materials including Tenax® Dry Reinforcement carbon fiber materials (Tenax® DR), carbon fiber thermoplastic unidirectional pre-impregnated tape (Tenax® TPUD), carbon fiber thermoplastic consolidated laminate (Tenax® TPCL) and thermoset prepreg. Going forward, Teijin intends to further strengthen its carbon fiber and its intermediate material business as a leading solution provider for aircraft applications, targeting annual sales in this field in excess of USD 900 million by around 2030.

Teijin announces availability of DPP-compliant products aligned with Europe’s ESPR Environmental Regulation

Teijin Limited announced today that it has started rolling out initiatives to enable aramid fibers and carbon fibers to be accompanied by Digital Product Passport (DPP) technology, which enhances supply chain transparency by verifying the origins of materials and supporting sustainability claims. The company is using the supply chain traceability system from Netherlands-based Circularise B.V., in which Teijin has invested since November 2024, to develop DPPs for each product.

Teijin to invest in Circularise B.V. and adopt its supply chain traceability platform to promote the Circular Economy

Teijin Limited announced today that it will invest in Circularise B.V., a company based in The Hague, Netherlands, which develops product traceability management systems using blockchain technology. Teijin will also implement Circularise’s software to improve visibility into its global supply chain. Circularise’s proprietary “Smart Questioning”(*) solution, which utilizes Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) technology, provides both anonymity and transparency to ensure a highly reliable product traceability system.

Fewer pores, greater impact tolerance: Peter Dornier Foundation Prize 2026 honours material research on fibre-reinforced composite components for aerospace industry

Microscopically small pores that form during manufacture, or barely visible impact damage, can severely impair the load-bearing capacity and service life of fibre-reinforced composite components. Two young researchers have presented groundbreaking work in this field and will both be awarded the 2026 Peter Dornier Foundation Prize: Dr.-Ing. Benedikt Neitzel from the Technical University of Ilmenau for his doctoral thesis on pore minimisation in the RTM process, and Johanna Buschmann, M.Sc., for her master’s thesis, completed at the German Aerospace Centre, on the improved impact tolerance of 3D fabrics compared to 2D laminates.

Rieter sees Barmag integration on track as orders and sales rise

The first half of 2026 was shaped by the successful completion of the largest acquisition in Rieter’s history. The Man-Made Fiber Division enables entry into the growth segment of man-made fibers and sustainably strengthens Rieter’s market position in the Asia region. The expanded Group is now the world’s leading system supplier for the processing of natural and man-made fibers. In the first half of the year, initial cost savings in material costs and operating expenses have already been realized. The targeted synergies are expected to amount to at least CHF 20 million by the end of the 2028 financial year. Due to the completion of the acquisition on February 2, 2026, the first half of the year for the Man-Made Fiber Division only amounts to five months.
