India ITME Society 42 year old non profit apex industry body & India Post organized Textile Philately & Interactive Programme with Ms. Roop Rashi Mahapatra, IA&AS, Textile Commissioner, Govt. of India on 30th October 2021.

India ITME Society has always been on the fore front to support the Industry with its out of box solutions & commitment towards quality service to the Exhibitors. The initiatives have ascertained a cementing breakthrough in bringing back the business momentum & program was a first of its kind get-to-gether by enabling the guests to enjoy grandeur of the iconic GPO heritage building.

The program was jointly organized by India ITME Society & India Post at the iconic Heritage G.P.O. building which was built in 1913 and is modelled on Gol Gumbaz Karnataka.  Mumbai G.P.O. is one of the 5 Philatelic Bureaus in the Country authorized to sell United Nation Stamp.

Ms. Swati Pandey, Postmaster General, India Post, enthusiastically spoke about her association with India ITME Society since the 40th Year program. Her scintillating presentation articulating the golden history of Indian Culture & textiles encaptured in the postal stamps was unique & valuable, yet least known to many.

The captivating presentation by The Textile Commissioner, Ms. Roop Rashi Mahapatra, IA&AS was the highlight of the program. Her Musings on NURTURE THE FUTURE charged the students by the quizzes and elucidated them on the in-depth knowledge of the textile industry. India ITME Society has always strived to garner the best learning experience through it’s ground-breaking programs adding depth & elevating the student acquaintance who are the young minds of today and the responsible citizens of tomorrow. Continuing the unique series under the Programme “Nurture the Future” this was a third gambit to bring together Industry, Government & Academia for better synergy and growth of Textile Engineering Industry of our nation.  This initiative not only facilitated an exposure to textile policy and workings of the government but also set forth an opportunity for students to interact with Ms. Roop Rashi Mahapatra, Textile Commissioner. The faculties & students from VJTI & NIFT were thrilled to interact one-on-one with the Textile Commissioner. They said this is one of its rarest kind of opportunity bestowed by India ITME Society.

The evening also included a tour of the Heritage GPO Building for the students giving them a memorable experience which otherwise would have been impossible to explore, the Textile Philately Exhibition showcasing rich textile heritage encaptured in Postal stamps and a personalized stamp at the My Stamp Activity counter… a souvenir of the evening to take away.

Sustainability: European industry calls on EU to keep Single-Use Plastics Directive unchanged

A broad coalition of European industry associations, including EDANA, Euratex and Plastics Europe, has urged EU institutions to maintain the current legal framework of the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD). New skills for a circular textile economy

Based on the results of a comprehensive analysis, the Erasmus+ project Skills4Circularity is developing three practical training modules covering recycling technologies, eco-design for the circular economy and sustainable manufacturing. The content of the first module, Recycling Technologies, has now been developed and validated together with industry representatives. The module provides participants with knowledge of regulatory requirements, material sorting and the preparation of textile waste for recycling.

Bangladesh: Italian textile machinery mission stops in Dhaka and Chittagong

Technological upgrading and the transition toward higher value-added production are driving the new Italian industrial mission to Bangladesh. This year, the mission will split between the country’s two main manufacturing hubs, where Italian manufacturers will meet the leaders of the local textile supply chain in two strategic stages: July 7th in Dhaka and July 9th in Chittagong.

ALADIN paves the way for circular and demand-driven textile production in Europe

Textile production can be organized sustainably by utilizing short supply chains and preventing overproduction. This can already be achieved today by intelligently connecting and efficiently utilizing existing infrastructure. At the same time, production becomes circular when innovative technologies and materials are used that enable high-quality recycling. The ALADIN research project, launched in May 2026 and co-funded with five million euros under the EU Horizon Europe program, is creating the conditions for this.

Katharina Obergruber appointed to the Management Board of Sandler AG

The Supervisory Board of Sandler AG has appointed Katharina Obergruber to the company’s Management Board. Effective September 1, 2026, the Board will consist of Philipp Ebbinghaus (CEO), Dr. Ulrich Hornfeck (currently CCO, future COO), and Katharina Obergruber (CCO). Katharina Obergruber, currently Chief Sales Officer Hygiene and member of the Management Team of Sandler AG, will assume responsibility for all sales activities as Chief Commercial Officer. She will assume this role from Dr. Ulrich Hornfeck, who will focus primarily on production and supply chain topics.

Ence and ShareTex begin initial testing of the ATENEA innovation project to promote textile recycling in Spain

Ence and ShareTex are making progress on the Atenea R&D project, which aims to develop a complete value chain for textile recycling in Spain. Specifically, the goal of the ATENEA project—which is funded by the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI)—is to connect all the necessary stages for the recovery of textile waste, from collection and management, through recycling and transformation into new raw materials, to their incorporation into new textile products.
