+Woolmark and Women’s Wear Daily Host Market Report on What’s Working Now and Why

Annually IWTO coordinates a global congress which allows various forums for networking and education for those associated with the wool industry; from woolgrowers to spinners, weavers, manufacturers and beyond. This year’s IWTO Congress was organized together with American Sheep Industry Association in New York City between 7-9 May 2012. The theme for this year’s Congress was WOOL IN THE CITY as there could be no place better than New York, which connects wool and retail together.

The Fashion + Retail Market Report aimed to provide insight into future market opportunities and allow the industry to understand the USA market situation and be inspired by recognized icons throughout the USA retail industry, with a focus on apparel.

The Fashion + Retail Market Report speakers provided their views on trends and influences, social media techniques, natural fibers in a synthetic world, and more.

Confirmed speakers, topics that each covered and links to all presentations, with the exception of Rachel Roy’s, are below

Christian Siriano Topic: Virtual experience Link to download presentation (Word): http://tinyurl.com/d5acclt

Rachel Roy Topic: Designing for the modern woman "The story about the garments we design starts with the fabric. It's a tactile experience for me. The touch and hand of the fabric helps shape what the garment will be for me and how my woman wears it. And as much as possible, we include that story onto hangtags so our girls feel the passion that does go into each piece," said Roy.

Linda Fargo, Senior Vice President Fashion Office and Store Presentation, Bergdorf Goodman Topic: Retail trends and influences Link to download presentation (Powerpoint): http://tinyurl.com/bw2n8yp

Chris Pyne, Chief Strategy Officer, MediaCom Topic: Measuring success Link to download presentation (Powerpoint): http://tinyurl.com/chsvo5h

The Fashion + Retail Market Report seminar was held from 8:30am-12:00pm on May 8th, at the Ballroom of the Millennium Hotel in NYC. More information on the seminar can be found at www.merino.com/whatworksnow.
