Unveiling innovations in textile technology during customer seminars in India

During Picanol's recent highly successful customer seminars in India, they had the privilege of welcoming almost 500 enthusiastic Indian customers in Bhilwara on September 6 and in Ahmedabad on September 9. The customer seminars were an excellent opportunity to gain deeper insights into their innovations that were showcased at ITMA 2023 in Milan (Italy).

The dedicated team unveiled the most recent innovations such as the Ultimax, a revolutionary new rapier weaving machine which focuses on three pillars: ultimate performance, ensuring high-quality output; readiness for the sustainability requirements of tomorrow, supporting eco-conscious production; and a seamless user experience through a significant level of digitalization.

Additionally, they presented the novelties in airjet weaving technology, featuring the OmniPlus-i Connect, which now comes with increased production speeds. These innovations mark a new era of weaving technology, states Picanol.

Throughout the events, Picanol provided valuable insights into its aftermarket services and introduced PicConnect, its cutting-edge digital platform. This platform empowers the customers with the tools and resources they need to thrive in today's textile landscape.

Visitors to the event will experience Picanol’s world premiere of its brand-new Supermax rapier weaving machine. Picanol opens its new training and service center in Tashkent (Uzbekistan)

Last week, Picanol inaugurated a new training and service center in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), in collaboration with its Uzbek agent, Baror Group. This state-of-the-art facility is strategically located to serve Picanol’s Central Asian customers more effectively. The opening ceremony was organized during CAITME 2024, which is the largest textile machinery exhibition in Central Asia, and it provided the ideal platform to showcase the new center to many industry professionals and customers from Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, and Tajikistan, among other countries.

Fewer pores, greater impact tolerance: Peter Dornier Foundation Prize 2026 honours material research on fibre-reinforced composite components for aerospace industry

Microscopically small pores that form during manufacture, or barely visible impact damage, can severely impair the load-bearing capacity and service life of fibre-reinforced composite components. Two young researchers have presented groundbreaking work in this field and will both be awarded the 2026 Peter Dornier Foundation Prize: Dr.-Ing. Benedikt Neitzel from the Technical University of Ilmenau for his doctoral thesis on pore minimisation in the RTM process, and Johanna Buschmann, M.Sc., for her master’s thesis, completed at the German Aerospace Centre, on the improved impact tolerance of 3D fabrics compared to 2D laminates.
