Textechno with new instruments at Techtextil

At the Techtextil 2017, Frankfurt, Textechno Herbert Stein GmbH & Co. KG, the experts for quality control systems, will show its latest testing instruments for industrial fibres, yarns, and fabrics.
Textechno demonstrates the FAVIMAT+ AUOTFEED, a fully automatic single-fibre testing system, which determines the following fibre properties in a single instrument: linear density, tensile properties, mechanical crimp properties (crimp percent, removal force and stability), geometrical crimp structure, fibre-to-metal friction and bending stiffness. The sample feed unit AUTOFEED reduces labour for preparation of the test specimen and introduction into the test field to literally zero.

For the first time at Techtextil Textechno shows the new FIMATEST system, that measures the fibre-matrix adhesion by means of a single-fibre pull-out. The system consists of the FIMABOND embedding station and a clamping and alignment accessory to the FAVIMAT+. FIMATEST has won last year's JEC World Innovation Awards.

A further highlight is the automatic drapability tester DRAPETEST. This instrument allows to automatically characterize drapability of fabrics and NCF’s as well as the formation of defects during draping and forming. The tester combines the measurement of the force required for forming with ananalysis of small-scale defects such as gaps and curls by means of image processing. An optional sensor records large-scale defects such as wrinkles.

Further outstanding Textechno products for testing industrial fibres and yarns are DYNAFIL ME+ Dynamic shrinkage tester of all kinds of yarns,  STATIMAT 4U Automatic linear density and tensile tester for high-tenacity yarns, ROVINGTEST Automatic roving performance tester DIAMSCOPE Automatic fibre diameter tester You will find Textechno on a joint booth with LENZING INSTRUMENTS (Austria) and the University of Applied Sciences in Hall 3.1, booth A 39.

New study shows low environmental impact by Cotton made in Africa Organic Cotton from Tanzania

Today, the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) is announcing the results of a comprehensive life-cycle analysis (LCA) for cotton produced in Tanzania under the Cotton made in Africa Organic (CmiA Organic) standard. The study emphasises the small ecological footprint of CmiA Organic verified cotton. This can largely be traced back to the absence of synthetic pesticides, artificial fertilisers, and artificial irrigation. Consequently, CmiA Organic cotton can help the textile industry meet regulatory requirements as well as science-based targets. The results also show that the consequences of climate change threaten the livelihoods of these cotton farmers, even though the type of agriculture they practise barely contributes to climate change.

PERFORMANCE DAYS proves its relevance as the industry’s key meeting point

Held on March 18–19, 2026, PERFORMANCE DAYS once again confirmed its position as a leading international platform for functional textiles. A total of 3.366 trade visitors and around 560 exhibitors gathered in Munich, with the event already kicking off successfully on DAY 0, which received highly positive feedback for its interactive format. Despite challenging conditions caused by the public transport strike in Munich, the event saw strong attendance and a consistently high level of activity across both exhibition days.
