First keynote confirmed for OUTLOOK™ 2020!

EDANA has the pleasure to announce Jeffrey Saunders, founder of Nordic Foresight, as the first confirmed keynote speaker of the virtual OUTLOOK™ 2020. He is an expert in strategic futures studies and foresight.

His keynote speech will focus on the post-COVID-19 world and its implications for the nonwovens industry. His presentation is based on six strategic scenarios describing both the transition and post-COVID-19 world, where there is “no returning to business as usual”. These scenarios will explore the uncertainties and dynamics that will most likely shape international affairs and create the context and conditions under which all industries will have to operate.

Jeffrey Saunders is an expert in strategic futures studies and foresight. He has advised governments and executive committees and boards of directors for Fortune 500 companies and has worked in the nonwovens, chemical and energy sectors. Previously, he was Director and head of the Strategy & Innovation team at the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies (CIFS), Chief Consultant at SIGNAL Architects, and adviser to the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Stability Operations.

EDANA warns of consequences of misclassification of PET spunbond imports

EDANA would like to remind its members and industry stakeholders of the legal requirement to comply with the EU rules on customs classification when importing nonwovens from third countries outside the EU. In this regard, it was recently discovered that there appears to be a high level of customs misclassification occurring in our industry. This could have dangerous and costly consequences for importers.

EDANA, the voice of nonwovens, alongside a coalition of leading European business associations, has issued a joint statement urging the European Commission to introduce a "grandfathering clause" to the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (ECGT) Directive. The coalition warns that without transitional provisions for products already lawfully placed on the market, the new rules could inadvertently lead to massive waste and economic disruption.

Potassium permanganate has officially entered the Chemical Watchlist of the ZDHC Foundation, signaling increased scrutiny and potential phase-out of one of the most hazardous chemicals still used in denim finishing. The inclusion confirms an industry shift that Jeanologia anticipated more than a decade ago.

Global Standard strengthens presence in Southeast Asia at VIATT 2026

Global Standard will participate in the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT) 2026, organized by Messe Frankfurt, the first textile trade show in the APAC region this year. Global Standard will host a booth and Felica Shi will lead a seminar on Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).
