Patrick McDowell brings Circ’s recycled Polyester filament to the Runway at London Fashion Week

Circ®, a US-based textile-to-textile recycling innovator, is making history at London Fashion Week with renowned designer Patrick McDowell. For the first time, a recycled polyester filament made from polycotton blended fabric waste will appear on the runway on September 20, 2025 in McDowell’s Spring/Summer Collection.

Circ® and McDowell’s collaboration marks a groundbreaking milestone: the first textile-to-textile recycled fiber derived from polycotton waste to appear at London Fashion Week, underscoring circularity’s rightful place in luxury design. The filament was manufactured by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the world’s largest producer of polyester fiber and yarn, using Circ®’s recycled inputs. This underscores how pioneering recycling technology, combined with RIL’s unmatched industrial expertise and scale, is making circularity a tangible reality for the global fashion ecosystem.

The use of this innovative fabric in such a high-profile setting showcases that recycled materials can achieve the same level of sophistication and beauty as traditional textiles. It also serves as a powerful catalyst for accelerating circularity and galvanizing industry-wide collaboration and investment.

McDowell, winner of the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, is known for collaborations that push the boundaries of sustainability and elegance. This marks the designer’s second partnership with Circ®, following their custom gown using Circ®’s lyocell, made from recycled textile waste, for model and activist Munroe Bergdorf at the 2025 Serpentine Summer Party. Building on that success, McDowell has incorporated Circ®’s recycled textile into new designs for their SS26 collection, proving that creativity and circularity can thrive together.

“At Circ®, we believe the future of fashion depends on rethinking how materials are made and used,” said Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ®. “Seeing Circ®’s recycled polyester filament come to life through Patrick’s vision at London Fashion Week is a milestone for circular fashion and proves that circular textiles can meet the highest luxury standards. They are a visionary partner, and together we’re showing the industry what’s possible when innovation meets design.”

Patrick McDowell, Founder and Creative Director of their eponymous label, added, “Innovation and sustainability have always been at the heart of my work, and Circ®’s materials allow me to design without compromise. After the success of our collaboration at the Serpentine Gala, I’m excited to once again champion circularity on the runway, this time with a world-first material that demonstrates the true luxury of recycled textiles.”

Hemant D. Sharma, President – Polyester, Reliance Industries Limited, said: “At Reliance, we take pride in being the world’s leading producer of polyester filament and yarn. Our collaboration with Circ® and Patrick McDowell at London Fashion Week is a powerful demonstration of how innovation, scale, and sustainability can converge to shape the future of fashion. Beyond technology and manufacturing, we have been championing design-led sustainability through initiatives like the Circular Design Challenge (CDC), which we have successfully taken international, including here in the UK. Seeing these efforts culminate on such an iconic platform validates our vision: to advance circular solutions that combine performance, beauty, and responsibility for a truly global fashion ecosystem.”

The Patrick McDowell x Circ® garments debuted on the runway on September 20th, 2025 at London Fashion Week, signaling a new era where recycled fibers are no longer alternatives but essential for the future of fashion.
