Thrakika Ekkokistiria is one of the largest and oldest cotton ginning mills in Greece. Located just outside the town of Komotini in the Northwest of Greece, the company gins seed cotton and sells cotton lint to international merchants.

Speaking on the certification of the laboratory, Mr Ilias Kouroudis (Lab manager, Thrakika Ekkokistiria) said “Thrakika was the first ginning mill in Greece to create an HVI quality control laboratory. At the same time, it developed a classification system, where each raw cotton bale has its own quality identity. Our constant commitment to quality and customer satisfaction left us no choice but to initiate the process of having our Quality Control Laboratory certified by ICA Bremen, as proof of achieving recognised cotton testing standards.”

Thrakika Ekkokistiria primarily tests their own ginned cotton and demonstrates the cotton’s physical parameters to merchants to facilitate the trade. In addition, the laboratory also provides a service to any third-party seeking cotton testing of their samples.
