Barmag takes over Neumag

SAURERGROUP STRENGTHENS WORLD MARKET POSITION IN SYNTHETICS SEGMENT

Barmag AG, Remscheid, part of the Saurer Group, has signed a contract with Babcock Borsig Group, Oberhausen, to take over

100 % of Neumag (Neumünstersche Maschinen und Anlagen GmbH), which is domiciled in Neumünster. The take-over still needs approval by the supervisory bodies as well as the Cartel authorities. No details will be published about the terms of the contract.By extending its product range to include staple fibre technology, the Saurer Group has succeeded in completing the range of machines processing man-made fibres within Barmag AG.Neumag, world market leader in the synthetic staple fibre segment, with approximately 500 employees and a turnover of some DM 195 million, recorded a net income for 1998/99 of DM 9 million.
