The beauty of imperfection: Officina39 explores denim's next chapters

Creative collaborations, experimental finishes and faded colors define Officina39's presence at Kingpins Amsterdam.

Officina39 returns to Kingpins Amsterdam on October 14–15, booth White 01, with a creative and technological program that brings together its new Spring/Summer 2028 collection, advances in denim finishing and collaborations spanning design, fabric development, fashion and publishing. At the center of the presentation of the Italian company is a shared idea: that distinctive aesthetics, responsible chemistry and efficient industrial processes can evolve together, opening new creative possibilities for contemporary denim.

Faded Matter: The SS28 collection

FADED MATTER by Officina39 celebrates the beauty of denim transformed by sunlight, time and process.

Faded color, irregular bleaching, tactile surfaces and organic imperfections define a collection that moves from soft pastels to weathered blues. Familiar laundry effects are reinterpreted as contemporary, commercially relevant finishes, creating a visual language built around controlled imperfection.

Technologies including ZERO PP | ALL.IN, Recycrom™ RTD and MARVEL COATING support this exploration, combining creative freedom with processes designed to be more resource-conscious and industrially relevant. The result is a collection in which imperfection is not treated as a flaw, but as a deliberate and controlled creative value.

A signature collaboration: Gold Girls Co. – Renegade Renaissance

A highlight of the Amsterdam program is RENEGADE RENAISSANCE, an experimental collaboration with Gold Girls Co., presented in a dedicated space. Conceived by Marta and Glenda Goldschmied, founders of Gold Girls Co., the project explores the relationship between material and meaning, asking how unconventional materials can move beyond their original purpose to express ideas of permanence, identity, ambition and the paths we create through life. The collaboration takes shape through two conceptual garments, Marble Dreams and Midnight Journey.

Marble Dreams, developed using marble dust, reflects on permanence and longevity, while Midnight Journey explores ideas of chance, choice and personal ambition.

Officina39 acts as the project’s technical engine and creative enabler, translating the sisters’ vision into physical garments through chemistry, textile know-how and material experimentation.

Collaboration with Advance Denim

With Advance Denim, Officina39 has developed a co-creation project that seamlessly integrates fabric, chemistry, and technology from the beginning, rather than treating them as isolated production stages. The collaboration combines the vintage-inspired character of NOVANTIC with the more architectural surfaces of MARVEL COATING, further enhanced by LASER COLOR accents, while exploring the possibilities of ZERO PP | ALL.IN and Recycrom™. This project is the natural result of a shared vision, a demonstration of what happens when material expertise and chemical innovation align to redefine the standards of contemporary streetwear.

Collaboration with ISKO Luxury by PG – Paolo Gnutti

The collaboration with ISKO Luxury by PG explores the more experimental and visionary side of luxury denim. Highly tactile fabrics, bonded constructions and extra-heavy denim weights provide the starting point for an exploration of texture, structure and visual impact.

Treatments including MARVEL COATING, SMART COATING SW, ZERO PP | ALL.IN and overdyeing with NOVANTIC interact with the different fabric structures to create dimensional surfaces, strong color effects and a distinctive avant-garde character. The project pushes the boundaries of texture and creative expression, opening up new opportunities for high-impact finishing techniques.

From the runway to the editorial page

Officina39 will also showcase a selection of garments connected to the September 2026 Amsterdam Fashion Week presentations by Atelier Reservé and Vince Reece Hale, looking ahead to Fall/Winter 2027. Atelier Reservé’s work examines contemporary consumption and changing perceptions of value, while Hale’s Indigo Beam translates an enduring fascination with denim into an immersive experience of material, movement and light.

A further editorial connection comes through Born to Fade: Raw to Washed, a denim book written by Zennure Danisman and edited by Endrime®. Visitors can discover Officina39 garments at the BORN TO FADE – RAW TO WASHED DENIM booth, Green U.

Technology that expands creative choice

Across all of these projects, Officina39 continues to develop technologies designed to expand creative choice while simplifying and improving industrial processes. Its ZERO PP proposition is built around a simple ambition: one technology, a million styles.

ZERO PP is designed to replace corrosion and potassium permanganate-based effects in denim finishing through an integrated process that simplifies operations and reduces resource consumption while preserving aesthetic versatility.

The new enzymatic coating technology SMART COATING SW is also being introduced at Kingpins, alongside new experimentation with color and knitwear-inspired surfaces that translate unexpected textile aesthetics into denim. Together with MARVEL COATING, these developments reinforce Officina39’s conviction that process efficiency should enable creativity rather than constrain it.

Andrea Venier, Managing Director of Officina39, emphasizes the connection between creativity and industrial expertise: “At Kingpins, we want to show that the most interesting denim innovation happens when creative ambition and industrial know-how develop together,” says Andrea Venier, Managing Director of Officina39. “From our own collection to the projects with designers and mills, our focus is on making new looks possible while keeping processes practical and responsible.”
