Lindauer DORNIER at the JEC in Paris

DORNIER rapier weaving machine on which carbon fabric is produced (c) 2015 Lindauer DORNIER
As in the previous year, Lindauer DORNIER GmbH presents itself under the slogan „Ready for the future“ at the JEC in Paris, from 10 to 12 March 2015. The newly introduced product line „DORNIER Composite Systems“ combines the competences of the divisions weaving machines and special machines in order to offer trendsetting installations for the production of fabrics made of high performance fibres.
When further processed, these textile semi-finished products become efficient composite materials used as a central component in many leightweight constructions, not only in aviation and aerospace, but increasingly also in the fields of mechanical engineering and construction, architecture and automotive industry.

Since 40 years now, DORNIER weaving machines are the „machines of choice“ for processing carbon fibres. The first, commercially manufactured CFRP components were produced with fabrics woven on DORNIER weaving machines. This trend has continued since then, nourished by a multitude of further developments in the DORNIER weaving machine system family comprising rapier and air-jet weaving machines as well as special machines for the processing of various technical yarns.

Based on customer requirements, machine concepts of modular construction are developed perfectly adapted to the customers‘ needs. Lindauer DORNIER GmbH, technological market leader, produces today with its approx. 1,000 employees at two locations in Swabia, Germany weaving machines for technical textiles as well as production plants for biaxially oriented thermoplastic films. In order to retain as great a lead as possible in these two areas, approx. 8% of the annual turnover are spent on research and development. This contributes largely, in addition to creative engineering work, thorough knowledge of technological coherences and close customer relations to our technologically outstanding position.

Innovations in the textile sector as well as plastic process engineering are combined in the division DORNIER Composite Systems in order to develop efficient processes for composite technology. Thus, Lindauer DORNIER GmbH offers three types of weaving machines specifically for the production of textile structures for composite technology: the DORNIER rapier weaving machines using a positive rapier control, the weaving machine for 3D structures as well as the DORNIER tape weaving machine. In parallel, a tape production line for the application-specific production of thermoplastically fixed or consolidated tapes is available.

Thanks to the know-how acquired in mechanical engineering and construction a continuous manufacturing process can be developed optimally by integration of existing components and specially developed processing steps.

A tailor-made DORNIER complete system or DORNIER weaving machines „Made in Germany“ help to open up the potential residing in modern textile manufacturing technologies for the production of high performance fibre composite structures.

The Lindauer DORNIER specialists at stand P50 in hall 7.3 are pleased to inform visitors about their newest machines and technologies.
