175 years Technische Textilien Lörrach

The Management of Technische Textilien Lörrach (f.l.t.r.) Mr. Thomas Lais and Mr. Roland Jaehn (c) 2013 Technische Textilien Lörrach
Technische Textilien Lörrach GmbH & Co. KG (TTL) looks back at 175 long and eventful years of company history that began long ago in the 19th century when mainly Swiss businessmen and financers transformed the South of the German region Baden into the strongest business location of the textile industry in Germany.

Friedrich vom Hove founded the company in 1838 and started to produce woollen cloth and linen. Under the name “Tuchfabrik” (i.e. cloth factory) and with up to 400 employees Friedrich vom Hove’s company has gone down in the history of the city Lörrach and the Wiesental valley. The Tuchfabrik’s woollen felts have been used as machine coverings in the paper, textile, leather, bakery and electrical industry. Another special product were high quality woollen felts for the piano construction.

In modern times the Tuchfabrik specialized more and more in technical textiles and consequently changed its company name in 1986 to „TECHNISCHE TEXTILIEN LÖRRACH GMBH“. Already in 1962 the company started to develop, manufacture and sell needled felts made of synthetic fibres. In the year 1993 the company focused on needled products only and sold the production and sale of woollen felts and linen products to an English company.

TTL manufactures today needlefelts made of high quality synthetic fibres for the following three product segments:

  • Laundry textiles Ironer clothings for all current type of ironers, ironing belts for all cylinder ironers present in the market, transport and pleating bands, ironer tapes, cleaning and waxing cloths, ironer wax and other accessories.
  • Industrial textiles These are especially designed products and individual solutions for various applications in the automotive, aircraft, adhesive and electrical industry, for car wash facilities, heat protection, mechanical protection and much more.
  • Filter Media These needlefelts are used for hot gas filtration and dust collection in all kind of industries like in biomass or waste incineration plants, in the asphalt, steel, aluminium, wood and building material industry, in coal-fired power plants and other energy facilities or power installations as well as in small filters for industrial extraction for example.
Since the beginning of the modern needling technology TTL is (ranking) among the important European needlefelt manufacturers on the filtration market. The products are manufactured from high quality raw materials and meet all requirements of modern filter media. TTL is regularly in dialogue with the customers in order to improve and to develop the products and to fulfil the specific customer demands. Over decades the company has build up a large database of filtration applications that is continuously up-dated and expanded.

The company employs currently approx. 50 people and sells its needlefelts under the registered trademark TULONA® in almost all European countries as well as in many / several Asian countries, in Africa and in Australia/Oceania. In 2011 and 2012 the company achieved an annual turnover of approximately 12.000.000 Euro each and estimates sales of a similar amount in 2013 despite difficult economic conditions in several export countries.

High product quality, focus on customer needs, reliability and commitment to innovation / willingness and ability to innovate are the essential elements of the success of Technische Textilien Lörrach GmbH. & Co. KG. The company’s key principle is „QUALITY IS OUR PASSION“ and with this credo it faces the future optimistically and looks forward to new challenges.
