EDANA launches programme for the Nonwovens Innovation Academy and opens registrations

EDANA, the leading global association and voice of the nonwovens and related industries, today launched the draft programme for the Nonwovens Innovation Academy, to be hosted from the 5th to 6th November, 2015 by the University of Leeds (UK), one of Europe’s largest universities. With the publication of the preliminary programme, participants are able to register for the Academy today.
In 2015, EDANA is proud to present a programme with contributions from both the academic world and from the nonwovens and related industries. With content that literally bridges both worlds, sessions will cover:
  • New materials
  • Emerging technologies
  • Processing recycled carbon fibres
  • Modelling
  • Performance enhancement
“The NIA promotes fundamental understanding and knowledge of the science and technology contributing to the advancement of nonwoven fabrics, products and processes, and provides a unique opportunity for both relaxed networking and structured meetings between researchers, students specialising in nonwovens or related fields, and potential employers.” said Pierre Wiertz, general manager of EDANA. The Academy will be kicked off with a keynote speech: ‘From incremental to breakthrough innovation – moving nonwovens innovation forward’, by Dr Bryan Haynes, Director of Global Nonwovens Research & Engineering from the Kimberly-Clark Corporation.

In addition to the papers presented in person during the Academy, delegates will have the opportunity to visit a poster session showcasing academic projects and studies, and network during the breaks with their authors. The authors (students and researchers from a number of centres of excellence) have been selected to present their latest work within the broad range of topics pertaining to the scope of the Academy, and awards will be granted to the best among these.

On the morning of the 5th November, participants have also been invited to visit the research facilities from the Nonwovens Research Group of the University of Leeds, one of Europe’s largest academic groups specialising in nonwovens science and technology.
