Spring/Summer 2020 collection - An inspirational journey between nature and architecture

The observation of the variety of shapes which surround us and the interaction between nature and human presence is a source of inspiration and reflection for the Südwolle Group.

In the landscape shaped by man, everything represents the rhythm and harmony of shapes: the fluid lines of hybrid architecture that transfer the feeling of nature to an urban setting, the perspectives, which give rhythm to a city, the imposing constructions of ancient structures and cathedrals, the strength of industrial buildings Yarn becomes a line, which creates complex and three-dimensional textures, knitting effects and stitches, fabrics textures, details and decorations. A creative alphabet at fashion's service, where natural fibres blend with technological ones in a functional and respectful balance.

Südwolle Group attends Pitti Filati with the product lines/collections Biella Yarn and HF.

This is also the occasion to involve young knitwear designers in its creative laboratory. In collaboration with The Woolmark Company, Südwolle Group is supporting the creative project of two students of the Master in Creative Knitwear Design, developed by Accademia di Costume e Moda and Modateca Deanna. The students Hannah Jane Duncan and Lis Bazan Arevalo have created knitted garments especially for Napapijri in collaboration with STOLL. Biella Yarn's Merino-based yarns will be the ideal material for a project, which balances creativity in knitwear, technology, fashion and functionality proposals.

The Napapijri brand asked students to work on the theme of Fashion and Performance, paying special attention to the concept Make It Better. Through this philosophy, Napapijri embraced an innovation of product aimed at improving the life of consumers, while simultaneously making a significant contribution to the planet’s well-being. The CKD students created unique outfits, in collaboration with Artemaglia Fashion, SAT Knitting Machine and Maglificio Loredana.

In addition, Pitti Filati is the showcase for another inspiring project with Santoni Group, renowned producer of circular knitting machinery. It’s the combination of Südwolle Group’s performing wool blend yarns, Santoni Group’s X MACHINE technology and the fibre expertise coming from EMS Grilon® that resulted in a new footwear concept: Santoni’s X MACHINE offers the possibility to knit intarsia items for designing a seamless upper in countless patterns and colour combinations. The machine allows the mapping of different areas what results in a shoe body that is ready for the application on the sole. This way the production process becomes more efficient and costs can be minimized.Taking advantage of the natural anti-static, breathable and elastic properties and structure of the wool fibres, it is possible to enhance the potential of the footwear and heighten its performance.

Biella Yarn Collection

Biella Yarn's identity is a balance in continuous evolution between nature and technology, dynamic three-dimensional structures and fashion trends. The summer season enhances natural fibres with fine counts and bright colours, ideal for sophisticated and versatile knitwear with a contemporary feel.

Extra-fine yarns (15.5 – 17.5 microns) in 100% Merino wool provide summer comfort thanks to its heat-regulating properties, alongside precious blends in cashmere and silk such as the new extremely soft and shiny Super 160’S yarn Carlisle Nm 2/48-2/60 (70% Superfine Merino Wool, 15.5 microns/30% silk).

Ever-present classic summer blends include linen-based Linus Nm 2/50, or hemp-based Waris Nm 2/48, for knitwear with a natural feel.

Brisbane Nm 2/60 is the best-selling stock service yarn. An evergreen product, which offers the cross-season qualities of pure superfine Super 120’s Merino wool with non-shrink treatment, for practical and functional garments.

Attention to sustainability materializes in products, which comply with the standards set forth in the agreements with third parties GOTS and IVN Best.

HF Exclusive Collection

Sustainable creativity is the concept of the HF Exclusive collection, which has its peculiarity in the inventiveness of structures.

The fashion aspect lives alongside a technical core, at the service of sophisticated activewear which focuses on wellbeing. Yarns such as Marte Nm 2200 in cotton/polyamide with a towelling effect, Urano Nm 5000 and Giove Nm 4000 with a caged string effect, Mercurio Nm 6500 with a sculpted, modelled look and compact, clean performing Nettuno Nm 8500, allow the development of three-dimensional stitches which evoke the lines and shapes of hybrid architecture and give the collection a note of high design with fresh colours and distinct shades.

The “return to origins”, meaning the ethical respect which returns value to naturalness, inspires summer yarns in pure linen, cotton or hemp, as well as cotton/silk and cotton/linen blends with new volume and hand feel. Alongside large counts like Spiga Nm 3800 and Rafia Nm 4200 and Nm 8800, we can find the articulate string and frame structures of Gossy Nm 2200, yarn with several plies Canapo Nm 4900 with its matting effect, extra-fine Microfiamma Seta Nm 37000, Sofisty Nm 2/70 and Ice Nm 80000, micro-twisted with slightly wavy surfaces, composed tones and sober elegance.

For knitwear which loves to offer creative, smart and up-to-date garments, here is a series of artistic, bright and vibrant yarns. Creative textures which strike the imagination, like iridescent Sunset Nm 4300, Luminoso Nm 8400, and multicolour polyester Sirio Nm 5800 and which inspire vivacious elegance, like silk blend Prezioso Nm 21000 and the extra-fine cotton with metallic filament Excelsior Nm 45000.

The experimentation extends to the yarns which explore styles, colours and cultures, unusual fibres and original blends which give way to innovative ethnic and multicolour looks and surfaces: Vivace Nm 3000, over-dyed several ply yarn in various counts and Armonioso Nm 6500, with micro-knots running along it, super-twisted Allegro Nm 1800 and versatile fine yarn Gioioso Nm 10500 in silk and polyamide.

The most refined and eclectic knitting will find many suggestions in the extra-light yarns such as Chiffon, available in several counts (Nm 2/48 Nm 2/90 Nm 2/152), including crêpe version exclusively for Nm 2/48.

Among the unusual materials and textures, we can find Karta Nm 10000 and Karta Fantasia Nm 3400, reminiscent of paper, impalpable Celine Nm 37000, Fil-a-fil Nm 1800 with a designed structure, evocative Georgette Nm 2000 and Macramè Nm 3700, silk thread with a matted and compact feel.

Lastly, HF Classic is the line of stock service yarns dedicated to satisfying the needs of contemporary knitting: rapid, creative, innovative and sustainable solutions, like Genziana Nm 3/54 in 4 versions and with an updated colour card, the iconic Mirto Nm 2/50 in performance viscose and Drink Nm 2/60, also available in a mélange version, with a new colour card.

Lenzing advances its transformation: Higher EBITDA, stronger free cash flow and more than EUR 200 million in cost savings

The business performance of the Lenzing Group in 2025 was affected particularly in the second half of the year by external factors such as international tariff measures, subdued demand and declining market prices. As a result, revenue decreased slightly by 2.3 percent to EUR 2.6 billion, primarily due to lower fiber sales volumes and lower prices for fibers and pulp, which were further negatively impacted by currency developments. Nevertheless, thanks to the comprehensive Performance Program, Lenzing was able to improve its operating performance and key financial indicators compared with the previous year.
