French mill invests in Stäubli to suit its ESG requirements

The French weaving company Les Tissages de Charlieu (LTC) installed 40 new Stäubli SX PRO Jacquard machines in the first quarter of 2023. This was not the company’s first order for Stäubli Jacquard machines, but this time the investment was part of LTC’s global ESG (environmental, social & governance) strategy.

Environmental impact was a major criterion for LTC in choosing these new Jacquard machines. Designed for lower electrical consumption, the Stäubli SX PRO Jacquard machines perfectly suit the company’s sustainability and ESG goals. Another decisive factor was the durability of Stäubli Jacquard machines. LTC has been using Stäubli machines for decades, so they know they can count on extreme longevity of the machinery. LTC has Stäubli Jacquard machines in their mill that are still running after 20 years.

LTC’s 40 new SX PRO Jacquards are mounted on recently installed weaving machines that the company uses mainly to process recycled yarns within a circular economy scenario. LTC and Stäubli are both concerned about the future, and both companies are taking steps in the right direction – LTC with its global ESG strategy, and Stäubli with its high-efficiency, durable solutions.

Fewer pores, greater impact tolerance: Peter Dornier Foundation Prize 2026 honours material research on fibre-reinforced composite components for aerospace industry

Microscopically small pores that form during manufacture, or barely visible impact damage, can severely impair the load-bearing capacity and service life of fibre-reinforced composite components. Two young researchers have presented groundbreaking work in this field and will both be awarded the 2026 Peter Dornier Foundation Prize: Dr.-Ing. Benedikt Neitzel from the Technical University of Ilmenau for his doctoral thesis on pore minimisation in the RTM process, and Johanna Buschmann, M.Sc., for her master’s thesis, completed at the German Aerospace Centre, on the improved impact tolerance of 3D fabrics compared to 2D laminates.

Lenzing reports improved half-year results and advances strategic transformation

Despite a persistently challenging market environment in the first half of 2026, characterized by volatile energy and raw material prices, subdued global consumer demand and intensified competition from Asia, the Lenzing Group significantly improved its financial performance. Net result after tax more than doubled to EUR 35.6 million, compared with EUR 15.2 million in the first half of 2025. Free cash flow increased to EUR 45.8 million, while EBITDA amounted to EUR 239.2 million. Revenue totaled EUR 1.27 billion, compared with EUR 1.34 billion in the previous year.

BICO BCF yarn delivers impressive performance in field testing

In a joint development project with other partners, Barmag and Object Carpet have successfully tested BICO BCF yarn in the carpet manufacturing process. The results show that this innovative yarn technology offers significant performance advantages and opens up new possibilities for recycling-oriented carpet constructions.
