Symbiosis of function and uncompromising sustainability

© 2021 Schoeller
In Schoeller Summer 2023, the focus is on fairly-produced, multifunction textiles with environmentally-friendly finishes and exciting membrane technologies, as well as long-lasting products with recycled or bio-based components. These responsibly-produced innovations are part of Schoeller’s new biocosmo line, symbolizing sustainability and responsible innovations in combination with high-tech performance.

E-SPINNING AEROBRANE

biocosmo sets a clear and specific focus within the Schoeller Performance Collection: extraordinary sustainability. The innovative schoeller®-allweather three-layer fabric combines sustainability with functionality. Produced under fair conditions, the light outdoor and urban weight makes an impression with the new, highly-breathable aerobrane weather protection and ecological elements: It consists mainly of a high-quality, recycled polyamide in combination with the new E-Spinning membrane and is finished with Schoeller’s water-repelling ecorepel® Bio technology that is based on renewable raw materials.

BIONIC C_CHANGE

Outstanding wind and weather protection is also offered in the elastic schoeller®-allweather fabrics with a bionic c_change® climate membrane, which actively reacts to the ambient temperature. As ideal travelling companions made of recycled polyester in an elegant twill quality in a vivid violet shade. A heavy ottoman quality, also featuring PFC-free ecorepel® Bio technology, is made of recycled polyamide and recycled elastan, providing outstanding tear resistance when an extra portion of protection is required.

RECYCLED CONTENT

Freedom of movement, sustainability and high-energy colors characterize the 2-way stretch schoeller®-dryskin with recycled polyester and ecological ecorepel® Bio technology. Excellent moisture transport and reliable abrasion resistance make it ideal for all kinds of active sports. The pastel shades of the sturdy schoeller®-dynamic outdoor or accessory fabric lend it a certain lightness and an understated look. Recycled polyamide, recycled elastane and environment-friendly water repellence thanks to ecorepel® Bio finish make it sustainable through and through.

BIO-BASED TECHNOLOGIES

The elastic schoeller®-shape cotton blend with recycled polyamide is perfect for the golf course, but also ideal for an urban environment. The natural, light, two-tone effect is reminiscent of worn denim, and the 3XDRY® Bio technology finishes the pants fabric with bio-based feelgood technology. The ultra-light schoeller®-softight ripstop with organic camouflage print produces a semitransparent, downproof jacket shell. Made of 100 percent recycled polyamide and is finished with ecorepel® Bio technology, it too takes its place in the biocosmo portfolio.

New study shows low environmental impact by Cotton made in Africa Organic Cotton from Tanzania

Today, the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) is announcing the results of a comprehensive life-cycle analysis (LCA) for cotton produced in Tanzania under the Cotton made in Africa Organic (CmiA Organic) standard. The study emphasises the small ecological footprint of CmiA Organic verified cotton. This can largely be traced back to the absence of synthetic pesticides, artificial fertilisers, and artificial irrigation. Consequently, CmiA Organic cotton can help the textile industry meet regulatory requirements as well as science-based targets. The results also show that the consequences of climate change threaten the livelihoods of these cotton farmers, even though the type of agriculture they practise barely contributes to climate change.
