Esquel Group establishes US$500,000 endowment at the University of Hawai?i at M?noa
The professorship will be used to advance research and academic activities at the school and create benefits for the wider community. A Shidler College of Business alumna, Teresa established the Professorship to honor the late Dr. Chuck Gee, dean emeritus of the TIM School for his enduring dedication to the development of the tourism and travel industry, along with his staunch support of Esquel Group.
Dr. Chuck Gee was an important advisor to the founder of Esquel Group Mr. Y.L. Yang and offered a wealth of insights on Esquel’s and Mr. Yang’s business development over the years including the Fragrant Hill Hotel (????) in Beijing and Integral, Esquel’s Sustainable Development Garden at Guilin.
Education has always been at the core of Esquel’s DNA, and we believe it is especially critical to make tangible efforts in promoting education within our communities during challenging times. Vance Roley, Dean of the Shidler College of Business said, “We are truly grateful for Teresa’s contribution. This endowment will help the college strengthen and build a first-rate tourism and travel management program to support Hawaii’s tourism industry as it rebounds from the COVID crisis.”
