Starlinger donates 2 circular looms to Naci Topçuoğlu Vocational School of Higher Education at Gaziantep University, Turkey.
She attended the hand-over ceremony for the two circular looms on June 5th, 2013, and cut the ribbon together with the governor of Şahinbey District Mehmet Aydın, Gaziantep University Principal Prof. Dr. Yavuz Coşkun, Head of Naci Topçuoğlu Vocational School Prof. Dr. Cahit Bağcı, the chairman of the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry Council Mustafa Topçuoğlu, the chairman of the PP Fabric and Bag Producers Association Mahmut Köroğlu, and the president of the board of directors of Gülsan Holding Vedat Topçuoğlu, to officially hand over the looms to the students and teachers of the Faculty for Plastics Technology.
The Starlinger alpha 6 looms are designed to produce fabric out of polypropylene/poly-ethylene tapes which is used for woven plastic packaging production. Gaziantep is a major production center for woven PP fabric and machine-made carpets, and covers around 50 % of the total bag production volume of Turkey, which amounts to a value of USD 500 million1. “Turkey is one of the most important markets for Starlinger”, confirms Angelika Huemer. “Not only do we have many long-time customers here; Turkish woven sack producers are always interested in innovations and many of our latest machine developments go to Turkey first.”
