2020 Tabbie Award presented to AATCC

AATCC has won yet another Tabbie award for an in-depth feature article, published in the March/April 2019 issue of AATCC Review, written by feature writer Fiona Forrest.

The annual Tabbie Awards are sponsored by Trade Association Business Publications International (TABPI). The 2020 Tabbie Awards featured nominations from across the globe, with submissions coming from the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

This latest award is a welcomed addition to the many previous Apex and Tabbie Awards the Association’s publications have enjoyed over the years. “Bringing Space Textiles Down to Earth” was a “Top 25” award winner and represents the Association’s 21st award for writing or publication design.

As well as publishing original features on major topics of interest to professionals in the textile, apparel, and related industries, AATCC Review also contains technical articles, and AATCC news and information. Launched in January 2014, the AATCC Journal of Research, a sister publication, is exclusively for peer-reviewed research papers.

The AATCC Foundation Student Research Support Grant Program provides financial assistance for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing textile-related projects. Students may submit proposals now for funding to be awarded January 2026. Applications must be submitted by October 1, 2025, to be considered.

Data and skills, not algorithms, hold back AI adoption in textiles, finds ITMF and ITA white paper

The International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) and the Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University (ITA) have published a new white paper entitled AI in the Textile Value Chain: A Strategic Guide to Artificial Intelligence for the Global Textile Industry. The study concludes that the main barriers to artificial intelligence adoption in the textile and apparel industry are not technological limitations, but poor data integration, skills shortages and gaps in governance. According to the authors, further progress will depend on coordinated efforts to develop capabilities across the industry.

Brazil: The Italian textile and textile-machinery sector takes centre stage at two workshops

From 19 to 24 October 2026, Brazil will host a mission showcasing Italian excellence in the textile and textile machinery sectors, with two workshops scheduled for 20 October in the state of Santa Catarina and 22 October in São Paulo. The initiative will bring together Italian companies specialising in textile machinery, yarns, fabrics and clothing accessories, with the aim of strengthening commercial and industrial ties between the two countries and opening up new opportunities for collaboration.
