VDMA TFL supports postponement of Texcare International by one year to 2021

The leading international trade fair Texcare International is being postponed to 2021. "VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies supports Messe Frankfurt's decision. In view of the current circumstances caused by the COVID-19 crisis, we consider it right to postpone Texcare International to November 2021", says VDMA TFL Managing Director Elgar Straub.

Texcare International will be postponed to
27 November -  1 December 2021

Due to worldwide travel restrictions and contact bans, it is evident that this year, considerably fewer exhibitors and visitors would have taken part in Texcare International in November. With this background and in view of the considerable uncertainties for ongoing business in the entire worldwide textile care sector this year, the postponement is a wise decision. Texcare International is the central meeting place for the worldwide textile care sector and only by postponing, it can once again live up to its own standards asthe leading international technology fair in autumn 2021.

New impulse for the industry

The new date in November 2021 is then the eagerly awaited opportunity to provide new impulses for the industry after the COVID-19 crisis. The trade fair will then offer global technology providers from the textile care sector the ideal platform to present their innovations to an international audience and to position themselves together with their customers for the challenges of the future after the COVID-19 crisis.

Texcare International is the leading international trade fair for the laundry and dry-cleaning sector. From 27 November to 1 December 2021, international exhibitors in Frankfurt present trade visitors at Texcare International their latest machinery, plant, processes and services for laundry and dry-cleaning technology.

VDMA Textile Machinery with new Executive Board

At the general meeting of VDMA Textile Machinery held in Hanover at the end of September, Dr Janpeter Horn, Managing Director of A. Herzog Maschinenfabrik, was re-elected as Chairman of the trade association. Regina Brückner, managing partner of Brückner Trockentechnik, and Verena Thies, managing partner of Thies Textilmaschinen, will once again serve as vice-chairs for the next four years.

At the Techtextil trade fair in Frankfurt at the end of April, Peter D. Dornier, chairman of the VDMA’s Walter Reiners Foundation, presented awards to five successful young engineers. Promotion and sustainability awards were presented in the categories of bachelor’s/project theses and diploma/master’s theses. Academic theses are eligible for the sustainability awards if, for example, they develop solutions for resource-efficient products and technologies.

Young researchers recognised for cutting-edge work in recycling, fibre technology and textile mechanics

At the Aachen-Dresden-Denkendorf International Textile Conference held in Aachen at the end of November, Peter D. Dornier, Chairman of the Walter Reiners Foundation of the VDMA, honoured five successful young engineers. Promotion and sustainability prizes were awarded in the categories bachelor/project theses and diploma/master theses. Academic theses that develop solutions for resource-saving products and technologies, for example, are eligible for the sustainability awards.

#ITMA Asia + CITME Singapore 2025

VDMA members at ITMA ASIA + CITME in Singapore

With 69 exhibiting member companies, ITMA ASIA + CITME 2025 is once again marked by a strong presence of VDMA companies. Altogether 82 companies from Germany will exhibit at the show, covering about 3,500 square meters of exhibition space, topped only by China and Italy. VDMA initiated a German Pavilion with two group stands (spinning in hall 4 and finishing in hall 7) with a total of 30 exhibitors.

Italian textile machinery orders rise 7% in Q3 2026 as export demand strengthens

Order intake for Italian textile machinery manufacturers increased by 7% in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the same period of 2025. Growth was driven by international markets, where orders rose by 8%, while domestic demand remained weak, declining by 4%.

DITF develops bio-based binding fibers for wood-fiber insulation materials

As part of the CelluWoodFlex project, the German Institutes of Textile- and Fiber-Research in Denkendorf (DITF) are developing bio-based cellulose ester fibers as alternative binding fibers for flexible wood fiber insulation materials. In addition to the spinning process and the production of suitable staple fibers, the institute is also investigating how wood and cellulose fibers can be separated and recycled at the end of their useful life.
