Joint venture Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes (BSCCB) to expand production capacity in Germany and Italy
SGL Carbon and Brembo agreed to expand production capacities for the joint venture Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes (BSCCB). Both companies have been working together with BSCCB on the conditions and implementation plans for this in the preceding months. BSCCB will invest around €150 million until 2027 to expand by more than 70% production capacities at the sites in Meitingen (Germany) and Stezzano (Italy).

Teijin agrees to sell composites business subsidiary in Japan
Teijin Limited announced that it has agreed to sell its entire stake in GH Craft Co., Ltd., an equity-method subsidiary of Teijin’s composites business in Japan, to TIP composite Co., Ltd. Teijin signed the share transfer agreement today.

JEC Forum DACH: The composites community will meet in Salzburg
For the past three years, the JEC Forum DACH has been dedicated to showcasing the composites ecosystem in the DACH region. It accomplishes this by organizing a comprehensive program that encompasses customized business meetings, conferences, a startup competition, and awards. Following two successful editions in Germany, this year’s event will take place in Austria, in Salzburg. The local composites community will convene on October 24th and 25th in Salzburg to participate in this gathering.

This year, 12 companies were selected from among 11,000 Boeing suppliers worldwide, and CMA was selected as one of them for the Alliance Award. This is Toray's second award from Boeing, receiving the Supplier of the Year Excellence Award in 2019.

Two new logistics halls at the SGL sites in Innkreis, Austria
On July 21, 2023, a 500 m² logistics hall was inaugurated at SGL Carbon's Austrian site in Ort im Innkreis, including an adjoining hall of approximately 150 m² for the storage of tools. Prior to this, a similarly sized logistics hall had already been completed at the Ried im Innkreis site in the spring of last year.

SGL Carbon with solid business performance
Despite the increasingly difficult economic environment, SGL Carbon was able to increase sales in H1 2023 from €549.8 million in the previous year to €560.5 million. Adjusted EBITDA (EBITDApre) remained almost unchanged at €88.0 million (H1 2022: €87.9 million). The expected good business performance of the Graphite Solutions business unit and the better-than-expected sales and earnings development of Process Technology and Composite Solutions compensated the drop in demand in Carbon Fibers.

Successful completion of the refinancing of SGL Carbon
Just two years ago, SGL Carbon's net debt amounted to €287 million with a leverage of 3.1. Today, SGL Carbon reports that it has successfully completed its refinancing with the announcement of the full redemption of the corporate bond. Net debt as of March 31, 2023 has reduced to €174 million with a leverage of 1.0.

Teijin’s Tenax and PAN to earn ISCC PLUS certification for bio-based and circular raw materials
Teijin Limited announced today that its TenaxTM Carbon Fiber and the polyacrylonitrile (PAN) precursor fiber produced at Teijin’s Mishima Plant in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan have received ISCC PLUS certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification system. This is the world’s first achievement that carbon fiber and PAN to simultaneously earn this certification, which is a globally recognized standard for the recovery of waste and residues that provide feedstocks for circular plastics.
