Jochen Schmidt has his roots in the technical sector: his training as an industrial mechanic was followed by the study of precision engineering in Frankfurt. After working in development at Heraeus in Hanau he came to KARL MAYER in 2002 and found his niche here. Jochen Schmidt had his first post in the 'Central Construction' division, where he was responsible for looking after basic machine components as head of department. At the end of 2005 he then took over the 'International Business Development' sector in order to coordinate and lead machine projects across the groups.

As from 2008 he added the technical leadership of KARL MAYER (China) to this position. Now Jochen Schmidt is looking forward to further challenges in Chemnitz. In his third position in the group of companies he would like to develop the high-value technological products in the future-oriented business sector further in a creative manner and to continue on and develop the chosen path as the system supplier with an eye on the customers.

In addition the integration of the technical textiles business sector, including the production of composites machines and weft-insertion warp knitting machines more firmly into the KARL MAYER Group is a task to which Jochen Schmidt brings a great deal of experience. Because of his wide-ranging activities he has a knowledge of the specifics and the structures, and also knows many colleagues at KARL MAYER locations worldwide.
Now, in order to settle down in Chemnitz, Jochen Schmidt will set up a second domicile in the Saxon industrial city. Working on site, personal contacts, and settling down in the region will be important to the native of Baden-Württemberg, who currently lives with his family in Frankfurt/Main.
