VDMA: German Technology met Indonesian Textile
All important stakeholders of the textile industry such as INDORAMA, ATEJA TRITUNGGAL, Sri Rejeki Isman, Sinar Continental and Indah Jaya attended with their technical management.
The VDMA event was supported by API-Indonesian Textile Association, PERAGA, ATA-Journal for Textile & Apparel and indotextiles.com.
The experts from the German companies presented practise-oriented technology topics related to spinning, knitting, warp-knitting, braiding, weaving, nonwoven, finishing, dyeing machinery, automation solutions, textile testing and measurement and control equipment. Major application areas covered garments, home textiles as well as innovative industrial applications (technical textiles). A trendbook on industrial / technical textiles was handed over to Mr. Ramon Bangun (Director of Multifarious and Textile Industry within the Ministry of Industry) as well as to the moderators Dr. Mohamad Widodo and Mr. Gunawan from the School of Textile Technology in Bandung (Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Tekstil).
Large parts of the Indonesian textile industry are encouraged to modernize and to invest in more efficient and sustainable textile technology. Boris Abadjieff from VDMA emphasized in his opening address: „In order to secure competitiveness and to expand textile business in the future, the use of modern machinery is a precondition”. Therefore, VDMA welcomes the announcement of Mr. Ramon during the conference dinner: „We are still growing and we’re striving toward implementing a new development paradigm in accordance with energy efficient and environmentally friendly technology. There is no other choice than to buy German or European textile machinery.”
What the industry said Important “model companies” such as ATEJA TRITUNGGAL appreciated the event, too. Mr. Agus S. Tjandra, President Director stated: “In our company most machines are from Germany. It is just a question of time when e. g. automation solutions and other high-tech machines from Germany will be used at an even larger scale in Indonesia. The VDMA-conference is very informative to upgrade on the latest technology. As sustainability is very important and affects all of us, we appreciate the Blue Competence initiative of VDMA.”
According to a visitor analysis every third visitor (33 %) came from Bandung, followed by 31 % from the metropolitan region Jabotabek, 17 % from Purwakuta and the remaining 19 % from other parts of Indonesia.
Excellent business environment In 2012, German textile machinery exports to Indonesia increased by 132 % to 120 million EUR. Indonesia has become the fifth important market for Germany after China, Turkey, India and the USA. The German companies represented in Jakarta recommended themselves as reliable and professional partners to support the textile industry in terms of modernization, higher value-added textiles and new textile applications. In this context, the Indonesian textile manufacturers are invited to use the technical centres of German textile machinery companies more than in the past to test and to develop new textile applications right up to marketability.
Next stop Bangladesh The VDMA Textile Machinery Association will continue its series of conferences in textile producing countries in 2013. Next stop will be Bangladesh. The VDMA member companies will address the specific tasks of Bangladeshi textile companies from 05th to 06th November in Dhaka.
