ITALY’S TEXTILE MACHINERY INDUSTRY PRESENTS ITS LATEST INNOVATIONS FOR THE TECHNICAL TEXTILE AND NONWOVENS SECTOR IN CHINA

ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and the ICE (Italian Trade Commission) are organizing two technology workshops for the technical textile and nonwovens sector, to be held in Shaoxing and Suzhou respectively on May 8th and 10th 2011.
About ten Italian textile machinery manufacturers will be participating in these workshops, presenting their latest technology innovations to Chinese producers of technical textiles and nonwovens. Among the Italian machinery builders on hand, the following are Acimit members’ companies: Crosta, Noseda, Ptmt, Reggiani, Smit.

Investments in textile machinery for the Chinese market regained their growth trend in 2010, after an interruption which lasted only for 2008-2009 period. Italy is currently the third most important supplier of machinery for the textile industry in China. In 2010, Italian exports to China amounted to 426 million euros, a 70% increase compared to the previous year. Among the types of Italian machinery most in demand are spinning (33%) and knitting (25%) machines.

Growth in demand in China for textile machinery also regards the technical textile and nonwovens sector, and is due to an increase in production volumes in China in these areas. In fact, the nonwovens segment alone recorded a 24% increase in volume for 2010, with a production of close to 2 million tons.

Chinese textile manufacturers are well aware of the need to enhance the added value of their items. The shift in production to this specific product sector demands a high level of innovation and requires the use of advanced technology. For this reason, Italy’s textile machinery industry plays an essential role as a reliable partner for Chinese companies currently repositioning their market strategies.

Italian machinery manufacturers participating at the technology workshops are just a sampling of all those involved in the production of machinery for the technical textile and nonwovens sector in Italy. In fact, Acimit estimates that over a hundred Italian textile machinery companies are currently active in this sector (of these, around fifty or so produce machinery for nonwovens).

At the workshops, Chinese textile operators will be able to get a close look at the latest technology innovations for some very specific phases of the production process. In addition, the section of Acimit‘s website dedicated to technical textiles and nonwovens (http://www.acimit.it/Pub/italy/tessilitecnici.htm) provides links to technology partners who can supply the necessary solutions to today’s production requirements.
