Innovation soars in Hamburg Airlines aiming for the utmost in comfort and passenger well-being in their cabins are in good hands with the Swiss specialist. Lantal offers single-source convenience with products and services in seating, including fit-and-fly seat covers, antimacassars, literature pockets, and footrest nets, as well as floor-to-ceiling solutions for cabin walls, innovations for the floor with pre-cut carpets and ultra-fast installation techniques, and permanently pleated or plain sewn curtains as cabin dividers. The industry experts who attend Aircraft Interiors Expo 2013 in Hamburg can get a hands-on impression of these innovations in early April.
Cutting edge carpet and seat cover developments At the show, Lantal is presenting three brand-new carpet designs with remarkable properties. The first debut is a weight-optimized, extremely durable wool-polyamide construction with excellent underfoot comfort. The second one is an ultra-light wool carpet that tips the scales at 1200 g/m2 and offers stunning design options for shortand long-haul routes. It is compelling not only because of its low weight but also because of the self-adhesive tape or Velcro technique that expedites laying and removal. The third new product is a 100% polyamide carpet, which is also weightoptimized and highly suitable for high short-haul passenger frequencies due to its ruggedness. All three carpets are available cut to size and serged. New laminated fabric and leather seat covers improve the comfort level of foamupholstered seats and retain their good looks across longer service periods. Airlines can obtain these seat covers from Lantal fully finished and ready to install. A world première from Lantal is its lightweight foam lamination for leather seat covers that weigh only half as much as conventional laminates. The new line includes a breathable version with perforated leather that stands out with high moisture transport ratesfor pleasant, climate-controlled seating, and a comfort version for fabric and leather covers.
The PCS success story continues For four years and over 20 million passenger hours on over 50 aircraft so far, the Pneumatic Comfort System (PCS) has been demonstrating its reliability in Business and First Class sections with a maintenance-free track record. The merits of the PCS convinced Swiss International Airlines, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and British Midland International; two North American airlines, a Middle East carrier, and two further European customers are about to join them. More than 3000 seats equipped with the exceptionally comfortable PCS are currently airborne in medium- and long-haul aircraft. Initially installed mainly in Airbus jets, the PCS is now pending qualification for Boeing’s long-haul models (B777 and B787). The assets of Lantal's air-filled cushion system include weight savings, extreme reliability, maintenance-free service, and consistent performance across a long product lifetime. The firmness of the innovative cushions can be individually adjusted in-flight to suit the passenger's preferences in the sitting, relaxing, and lie-flat positions. The unprecedented comfort features have found many delighted followers in the airline passenger community.
