Size & fit – the new fashion mannequins

The Human Solutions Group has announced an exclusive collaboration with the London based size and fit specialist Sizemic and the SizeGERMANY retail partners to produce a range of SizeGERMANY product development fit mannequins.

Fashion mannequins, which optimally represent the customer in terms of dimensions and shape are the link between real fitting and 3D size & fit simulation, enabling entry into the innovative process chain of 3D product development.

The mannequins, were exhibited by Human Solutions at Texprocess, Frankfurt 10-13 June, have been developed exclusively from SizeGERMANY measurement and 3D body shape data. The programme consists of 13 standard sized fashion mannequins for men, women and children - and they correspond 1:1 to the sizes tables derived from the SizeGERMANY serial measurement programme. The availability of current serial measurement results in the form of body dimension tables and 3D body shapes derived from body scans creates new opportunities for optimising the size & fit of apparel products.

The result is highly accurate and realistic body shapes, truly representative of German consumers. The mannequins will enable apparel companies to optimise the share of their target customers that can fit their clothes and improve the accuracy and consistency of fit across their supply chain.

“Good size & fit is the essence of the art of tailoring. Until now, however, the focus on good size & fit was mainly to be found in tailor-made apparel. The size & fit of collections for the broader market was mainly based on experience. Now, with the integration of body measurements and 3D shapes into modern product development, a new qualitative leap in size & fit has been made possible”, so Dr. Andreas Seidl, CEO of Human Solutions. And he adds: “Here the economic factors – time and costs – are provided by the integration of this data into a seamless process.”

The SizeGERMANY mannequins developed by Sizemic have a high technical specification with several unique and innovative features as standard. These include soft, compressible, components for the bust, tummy and buttocks, designed to imitate the behaviour and characteristics of the human body. Optional accessories include a detachable head, and standing pegs for more flexible use.

The SizeGERMANY fit mannequins are the same body size and shape as the virtual ‘scanatars’ used in Vidya, Human Solutions’ 3D apparel visualisation software, enabling a seamless transition from development in the virtual environment to verification in the physical form.

Commenting, Andrew Crawford, Sizemic’s Chief Executive said “We are delighted to be working with Human Solutions and the SizeGERMANY partners on this prestigious project. The fact that Sizemic was selected from several other mannequin suppliers is an endorsement of our technical knowledge, experience and expertise, as well as the quality of our mannequins.”

Many Companies already use the fashion mannequins, for instance Takko, C & A, Canda, Galeria Kaufhof, Tchibo, Madeleine, New Yorker, navabi, Nienhaus & Lotz, Peter Hahn and QVC. These customers are very delighted with the results and the seamless process, which is now possible.
